How Your Voice Will Change Your Business

How Your Voice Will Change Your Business

Do you spend hours writing and rewriting captions and headlines, trying to attract your ideal customer?

Have you been focused on using social media in order to market your business and finding it difficult to connect with your audience?

Does speaking on a stage in front of a crowd of potential clients make you nervous?

In this article, we’ll talk about how the landscape of marketing has changed in the digital age and how a proven method of reaching your audience, speaking on stages, can change your business.

The internet and the marketing potential it has to offer has completely changed how business owners and entrepreneurs share their voices and visions with the world.  We have become well-versed in using Facebook algorithms, buying the best camera to take eye-catching Instagram photos, writing the best copy to attract the ideal consumer, all in an effort to adapt to the changing business climate.

It is no secret that adapting and growing alongside the most popular trends is crucial for your business.  When you want to reach and help someone in your niche, you must find the best way to share your voice with them.  Otherwise, they won’t know about the impact you can have on their lives. In essence, in order to help a potential client or customer, they must be able to recognize that you can, in fact, relate to them and provide a valuable service or good.

Social media, to put it mildly, has transformed the world of business and marketing, by placing an emphasis on edited images and relatable copywriting.  Although these mediums have their place and are instrumental in reaching audiences who primarily use their phones for advertising and testimonial consumption, we have started to overlook the effect our faces and voices can have on attracting our ideal clientele.

Pete Vargas is a master at teaching people how to grow their businesses with stages. Since 2003, he and his team have booked over 25,000 stages worldwide–and generated tens of millions of dollars of revenue through those stages. In 2016, he founded Advance Your Reach, a company that focuses on high-level speaking strategies to help businesses grow.  He has helped business owners use stages to grow to over $10 million in 3 years, hitting the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America for the first time in 2019 by emphasizing the impact just one hour on a stage can with an audience or prospective client.

The following are three reasons why you shouldn’t ignore the power of the stage when trying to grow your business.

  1. Storytelling:  Psychologically speaking, as humans, we best relate to information when it is given to us in the form of an experience.  By being able to envision another person go through difficulty and overcome it, we are able to see ourselves potentially accomplishing the same result.  For example, if a health coach prioritizes sharing her struggle to lose forty pounds and how she was able to regain her health and confidence, other women will believe they can do it too.
  2. Familiarity: Building your brand is not just about your business or the services you offer.  It’s about being a recognizable authority in your space. By speaking to people in person, making eye contact, becoming increasingly memorable, your audience becomes more comfortable with you and that results in increased trust and more success for your business.
  3. Emotions:  As human beings, we gravitate towards others with whom we share similar emotional experiences.  This transcends justs the written word. Yes, we can write candid and captivating captions, but when we read a post on social media, we cannot do so with the inflections and body language needed to communicate a full spectrum of emotion.  By being able to express ourselves using facial expressions, gestures, and interaction with an audience, we are showcasing empathy and an openness to be vulnerable.

The beauty of incorporating marketing protocols that center on speaking is that it is a learnable skill.  As Vargas has said after decades of experience as a business coach, no one is “born” a great speaker. He states that “what truly separates great speakers from the rest is practice and a great framework.”  Moreover, the size of your business does not matter; these strategies universally work for entrepreneurs and leaders spanning all industries, audiences, and sizes.

If you are interested in taking your speaking and presence on stages to the next level, Pete Vargas is offering a 4-part workshop, Stage to Scale, that is designed to take your communication skills and business to the next level.  He has coached hundreds of executives and entrepreneurs using strategies that the most famous speakers from centuries ago used to captivate and educate their audience. You can find all the information you need at ProSpeakersTips.com.  In order to benefit from this program, you do not need to be a gifted or experienced speaker. You simply need the willingness and drive to work on developing skills that will improve your presence on stage and grow your business.

More often than not, what keeps us from growing professionally is our belief that we are not meant to grow beyond a certain point.  We convince ourselves that there is a ceiling to our success based on our skills and experiences so we do not think to reach out for additional education or training because we have already decided that ‘this is the most we can do.’  You do not have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
