How Your Unique Selling Proposition Helps with Client Acquisition

One of the big questions I ask businesses I want to market for or help with customer & clients acquisition is:

What is your unique selling proposition?

And usually, I make this question simpler by asking it like;


What do you offer that competitors in your industry do not currently offer,

and what gaps are you attempting to fill in the market with your business?


Questions To Investigate USP

These questions earlier stated often help us to identify if a business really solves a problem and exists in a market that has a demand for it;

No matter how great your marketing is, if you have a terrible product that solves no problem, a lot of manipulation must be involved in selling it.?

Also, I like to take our clarity questions a step further to help with our copy, brand messaging & marketing communications.?

As I like to ask the question,?

“Why Do You Think Your Customers May Not Want To Patronize Your Product/Service?”

Of course, this mainly serves us with answering the common objections existing in their market and work on how to tackle these objections.


So let’s break it down a bit,?


What is your UNIQUE SELLING PROPOSITION?


A unique selling proposition (USP) is the one special thing that makes your product or your service better than the competition.?

It’s a specific and clear benefit or offer that makes your business stand out compared to other businesses in your market.


We once mentioned how branding can help your target customers quickly identify your brand, however, your unique selling proposition is one of the essential aspects of branding your business.?

As a matter of fact, your branding conveys the message of your uniqueness (or in this case your USP).


Many businesses make the mistake of attempting to stand for everything when they first get started.?

They want to do everything well, and they want to be all things to all people.?

Whenever I ask some businesses, whom does your business serve?

The mistake they make is they answer

“Everyone”!


They want to be known for having quality products while still having the lowest prices.?

They want to offer the best food, software, and information materials but at the cheapest prices.?

They want to provide the cheapest service, while still giving the best quality, however, the question still goes

Does that make you unique?


Conclusion

Certain steps if effectively carried out can quickly help you identify your business's USP or where to quickly fill in your industry to have a brand that stands out.
