How are your POWER SKILLS?
Do you even know what they are??Power skills are what used to be called soft skills and these skills are anything but soft.?Gone are the days where building teams through intimidation, entitlement and aggression is an acceptable form of leadership.??
Leaders need to show up with their hearts.?They need to bring authenticity and the ones who get extra points are the ones who allow themselves to be vulnerable to their organizations.??
So how do you do that, if you never have before?
The first step in building that irresistible culture is through building trust.?If your team doesn’t trust you, they will never go above and beyond.?Without trust, you have reduced their work to merely a job and a paycheck.??
ADP Research conducted a global study on engagement that involved over 19,000 people across 19 countries and 13 industries. ADP found that two primary factors that characterized highly engaged employees stood out above all others: being on a team and trust in the team leader. In fact, a worker is 12x more likely to be fully engaged if they trust their team leader.
A simple way to start is by asking the important question- “How can I be the best manager for you?” This is the foundation of trust and a concept I call Inverted Management.
By taking the time to understand your people you can advocate for them.?You can help them build the skills they need to grow.?You can better understand how your team is stacked.?This also puts you in a position to drive greater collaboration across your organization because you know them.
When all of the leaders in the organization follow this methodology, they are much more prepared to promote the right people to the right roles.?And at any given point in time, the C-Suite can tap any leader on the shoulder and get a pulse of what’s going on across the workforce.??
So how’s the level of trust in your organization? If you think it’s good but your team calls are quiet, or once engaged folks are no longer speaking up, those are signs you may be in trouble.?Don’t wait to lose your people.?We can help.
DON’T LET ANYONE STEAL YOUR MOJO!!! ??

I love making cocktails.? It’s my way of creating something special for people I care about.? (I don’t cook much so this works.) But, not just any cocktail.? They need to be beautiful.? They need to be in a beautiful glass with thoughtful garnishes.??
One of my favorite ingredients to work with is Empress Gin .? If you haven’t discovered Empress, I HIGHLY recommend you check them out on Instagram- the prettiest follow around!? The reason their gin is so beautiful (and delicious) is because one of the ingredients is butterfly pea blossom which makes the gin a purply blue color.??
But the best part is when you make it it changes color!!? So it’s cocktails and a show when I am at the helm.??
They post recipes every day but here’s one that is simple and has another of my favorite winter ingredients, Blood Orange.
BLOOD ORANGE GIN COCKTAIL
? oz Empress 1908 Gin
2 oz Fresh Blood Orange Juice
? oz Fresh Lime Juice
? oz Orange Liqueur
Blood Orange Rounds
Fresh Thyme
METHOD:
In a mixing glass with ice combine the gin, blood orange juice, lime juice and orange liqueur.? Stir with a bar spoon to chill.? Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.? Garnish with blood orange wheel and thyme springs.? Enjoy!
Cheers!
