How your Mood controls your Finances?

How your Mood controls your Finances?

Do you shop too much? Do you often use apps like Swiggy or Zomato? Do you always pay your bills late? Do you avoid checking your bank accounts or credit reports? Are you hesitant to get help with your finances because of shame, guilt, or fear? Do you celebrate your financial wins?? Do you struggle with money management? Do you feel like you’re drowning in debt? Do you abuse credit cards?

All these things are controlled by our minds. Our mind controls everything we do. When our mindset is in a healthy or happy state, the decisions we make will lead us to positivity and prosperity. When our mental health is in a negative or poor state, we tend to make financial decisions that lead us to even more negative results and toxic behaviors.

Finance isn’t just about knowledge and numbers, it’s about the way we think, feel, speak and react when it comes to money. This is where our mental health comes in. Nurturing your mental health on a daily basis is essential.

Mental health consists of our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It directly affects the way we think, feel, speak and act. It plays a huge role in how we deal with financial stress. Mental health should be evaluated and nurtured at every age and every stage of life. If you’ve ever experienced mental health issues, your thinking, feelings, speaking, and behaviors towards your financial lifestyle could be affected.

8 ways to nurture your mental health and financial health:

  • Show Gratitude:? Be aspirational but do thank God for 5 mins what you have with you now? Feel great about yourself for 10 mins. Be egoistic about yourself for 10 mins.
  • Get More Sleep:?We sometimes think more work and less sleep is more productive, but we actually do ourselves a disservice by depriving our mind and body of sleep. Sleep gives us the fuel we need to be more productive personally and professionally.?Please please don't undermine the importance of sleep.
  • Exercise Daily:?The way you challenge your mind and body during a workout can translate to the way you push through challenges on your financial journey. Yes, it impacts your financial well bring as well.
  • Catch Up With Friends and Family:?We need those connections from loved ones to enjoy meaningful conversations and reminisce about the good times. Invest time in that. Get along being slightly naughty with your friends. All these activities within limits activate your happiness cells.
  • Eat Well:?Drink more. ( Please note that I mean water here). At times add fruits and vegetables to your meals. The healthier the foods the stronger the mind and body will become.?
  • Schedule a Money Meeting:?Meet with yourself or everyone in your household at least once every week, biweekly or monthly. Finance is as complicated a subject, as Biology or Python Coding or Artificial Intelligence. Take help of experts, you know and regard as experts.
  • Create Playlists:?Music is our medicine. Create a few playlists to empower you for different types of moods you may experience. Mix up songs of Lata ji at times that will make you feel nostalgic. Friends who are aged similarly as mine, may I request you to play an old song by Lata ji for the next 5 mins. Do share how you feel? It is a massive tool for relaxation.
  • Hire a Professional:?Doing it on your own is great, but there comes a time when you realize it’s best to hire a professional to help you get the job done. It could be a Financial Coach, Tax Specialist. Do IT Yourself apps like Zerodha & etc are taking mindshare. All these apps are not for wealth creation but entertainment & creating an illusion. These are instruments for the mass destruction of the wealth of newcomers & innocent traders. Ask any old traders who use technical analysis software whether they have created any returns out of it.

Do share how do you destress yourself? How do you choose to relax? Controlling your mind is very useful for your financial well being.
