How Your Mindset Can Help You Enjoy Life More

How Your Mindset Can Help You Enjoy Life More

A couple years ago my husband and I were attending the craft at artisan fairs where we live here in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada during Christmas time.

I said to my husband, “I need to enter every prize draw and raffle because I’m going to win.”

He gave me a funny look.

Lo and behold, I ended up winning 3 smaller prizes and 1 big prize from 2 different fairs.

Two days later, I received a phone call that I had won the grand prize; a beautiful custom piece of artwork from a revered local artist.

My husband did not believe me when I shared the news about the grand prize. He thought I was joking and I had to convince him that I had won yet another thing.

A few months later my husband was buying tickets for a fundraising event where top-of-the-line snowboarding and split boarding equipment was being given away.

He said to me, “How do I do what you did where you win things?”

I said to him, “Expect that you’re going to win. Know that you’re already lucky. Get excited and feel grateful that they’re going to call you and notify you that you’ve won”.

He ended up winning $600 worth of equipment.

Now life isn’t just about winning free stuff.

But your beliefs of what you’re capable of, AKA your mindset, create a lens through which you experience the world.

Think of your mindset as your state of mind. It’s the state of your thinking that frames your experience.

Isn’t it interesting that there can be two siblings who grew up in the same family and same situation, yet they seem to have two completely different outlooks on life?

Or there can be two people who experienced the same traumatic event, yet they each found different meaning from it? One person may be inspired to be a better person as a result of their trauma and the other is forever hurt and victimized from it.

Your mindset has the power to frame your experience.

It’s important to note that as much as we’d like to think we are in control of our life, we do not control the Universe and the circumstances that happen to us.

We do, however, control our reaction to it.

That’s where the power of mindset comes in.

A great way to check in with your mindset is to notice how you feel when you first wake up in the morning.

Do you expect your workday to be difficult and exhausting?

Or do you expect that you can meet whatever challenge comes your way with ease and grace?

Of course we never know what the day will actually bring. But our ability to meet challenge and stress is relative. And we get to choose how we define our ability to tackle what comes our way.

It’s as if we’re all wearing a pair of glasses through which we see the world and the coloured tint of the lenses are the filter of our mindset.

Now here’s where the real magic comes in.

You have within you a space where you are always calm, clear and peaceful.

Where you require no willpower or extra time to see life differently.

It’s an effortless way of being where you’re always plugged in to your intelligence, creativity, and gut instinct, because the busy thinking mind gets quiet.

That’s the space where I meet my clients.

It’s where you get to simply enjoy life more without changing any external circumstances.

And I’m on a mission to help everyone get there.

More on that to come in future newsletters…
