How is Your Mental Health?

How is Your Mental Health?

It's been a crazy few weeks, right?

Ukraine. Israel. The U.S. House of Representatives. There's no way around this -- things are mess.

Which is why I wanted to talk about how you're handling all the stress.

In my workshop titled From Stress to Success: Creating a Culture of Wellness in the Workplace, I point out that taking care of your mental health is every bit as important as taking care of your balance sheet, your P&L, your ROI, and just about everything else you focus on as a business leader.

Not long ago, a friend of mine named Daria Love who works at Agorapulse in Paris uploaded a post about mental health on LinkedIn.

With Daria's permission, I've shared her post below.

From Daria:

It's International Mental Health Day today.

And I decided to share this picture with you.

The girl in the picture was me two years ago.

"Just a selfie" -- you may think.

True. But it's a selfie of a girl who was just diagnosed with depression and was going through the toughest time of her life.

Can you see that in the picture?

Me neither.

I share it to show you that you never know what's really going on with other people.

They might be in the middle of the hardest battle. Battle for life.

So be kind.

And if you're like this girl in the picture, feeling that nothing good is ever waiting for you, please ask for help. Put yourself first. Find a therapist or psychiatrist and talk to them. Take a break. Just breathe. Good days are coming, even though it may not look like this today.

I'm glad that the girl in the picture asked for help and her good days are back again.

I'm rooting for you ????

From Jamie:

If you or someone you love is suffering from depression, please take care of yourself. If you're considering harming yourself or others, dial the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 998 (in the U.S.). And if you feel you need counseling, please consult a therapist. (I've done it tons of times and its amazing.)

Or, if you're just feeling a little down in the dumps, you might appreciate our blog post titled How to Reduce Stress in the Office: A Guide for Managers.

Hang in there. Life is messy. But, as Daria says above, "I'm rooting for you."
