How Your Dream Job Can Help Your Marriage
"Will you just shut up and quit already?!"
I was stunned. I blinked. I stared at my two best friends with the blank face of someone experiencing shock and horror at the same time.
Quit? Quit?! I can't quit...
It had been 2 years, 3 months, and 13 days since I began my job on Wall Street. Despite my growing misery and abject disgust for my position, I thought I was keeping it together. The rest of my life was going pretty well. I attended a Crossfit gym almost every day. I traveled frequently to visit friends and family. And my social life in Stamford, Connecticut was on point. I loved my friends and they loved and supported me.
That's why I was so surprised at this outburst from my former roommate and my Grey's Anatomy-level "person" when, in unison, they exclaimed,
"Will you just shut up and quit already?!"
When you hate your job, it's highly unlikely you realize the burden that fact places on other people-- especially the people you care about the most.
But that is exactly what's happening.
Instead of ending your day energized, you come home depleted. Instead of gushing about your day, you start complaining. Instead of sharing your successes, you avoid talking about work altogether and bristle when other people bring it up.
Dammit, Jerry. Do you really have to talk about your promotion, again?!
If this is you, please realize this-- you are not the only one suffering.
The people in your life who love you, who want the best for you, and who want to see you succeed are growing weary.
You might think you're doing the best for your family because you're sacrificing for them and providing for them. You're probably explaining the years of missed tee-ball games and dance recitals away by telling yourself that this is what your family needs. You could even be assuming that your spouse or significant other expects this of you, when in reality I know this one thing to be true:
They married you for a reason-- that reason did not include watching you suffer.
This week, I wanted to share a special, Valentine's Day testimonial from a couple who is very dear to my heart.
Check out this video below to hear their story-- listen for how they made the decision to change careers as a family and how having work they love has changed their lives for the better.
I can't wait to hear from you about this story. If their journey speaks to you, then it might be time to explore our programs and make some serious change in your career.
If you're ready, you can learn more about what we do and how we can take you, your career, and maybe even your marriage from stuck to unstoppable.
Grab your free 50-minute slot this week, before they run out.
Always remember... the people in your life are there for a reason.
Be unstoppable,
TT
