How is your customer service?

Trust = customer retention. 

I came across an article on entrepreneur.com which discussed strategies for building trust with customers. Article titled: 7 Ways to Build Consumer Trust Naturally. 2 points stood out to be and I wanted to go into a little more depth about both in this post. 

1) Go all out on customer service.

Customer service of course encompasses the time before the sale is made and after the sale has been made. Making the process as easy as possible for customers is something which seems obvious, but I'm sure as consumers we know that it is not always the case that the process is smooth, easy and convenient. 

What is fantastic about this method is that it doesn’t have to be awfully expensive, it’s a cost effective investment into your businesses future. 

2) Communicate more. 

I feel this leads on from the first point, as part of effective customer service is effective communication. They key here is to manage expectations. No one likes being left in the dark with what is happening, if things are going well, tell them. If things are behind schedule, let them know. Things inevitably go wrong, acknowledge the error proactively.

In the UK, the Customer Service Excellence Standard is a really useful tool for organisations who are looking for a continuous improvement and independent way to validate and celebrate how customer focused they really are.
