How is your Candidate's Experience?

How is your Candidate's Experience?

Do your candidate's enjoy their interview experience? Maybe enjoy is a strong word for interviewing. Do your candidates feel good after interviewing with you and your company?

How do you know?

The candidate experience is close to my heart.?It's always been my goal to ensure people have the smoothest interview and offer process, as well as a great experience with the company itself.?

?My ultimate goal, in all of this, is to have candidates that don't get hired feel like their time wasn't wasted; that they felt good about their experience with me…you never know where that connection will go, and most of all, as a corporate recruiter, that even if they didn't get the job, the could look back at the experience and say " I didn't get the job at XYZ company, but everyone is so great, I'd still like to work there, and I'd tell other people to work there."

?How do I do this?

  1. I am always nice.?It costs nothing to be kind and gets you everything,
  2. I listen.?I remember the little things that candidates tell me about themselves so when we're chatting 2 weeks later, they can tell I've been paying attention. (I also take copious notes when I speak to people so I can always refresh my memory)
  3. I'm honest. Like super transparent. Whether it's the compensation or if someone didn't get the job, I give them as much information as I can as to why, and typically offer some kind of advice, possibly about their resume or perhaps feedback I received from the interview that I can turn into something for the candidate to take away (this goes back to being nice)
  4. I stay in touch and have tell candidates to check in with me too.?I never mind a candidate following up.?I will tell a candidate, if you have not heard from me by X day, please call or email me. I want to see your follow up skills anyway, so you're giving me a great opportunity right now.?That doesn't mean I'm waiting to see if people will follow up, but I do notice when they haven't.
  5. I stay connected.?I'm connected to candidates from years ago - I've used candidates as references and I've introduced previous candidates to each other that I thought could help each other.?I connect to everyone I send outreach to, anyone I've had a conversation with.

How do I know my candidates are having a good experience??They thank me.?Even the ones that didn't get the job.?

How do you know your candidates are having a good experience?
