Vacation... you either love it or hate it.?
If I offer you a plane ticket to go on vacation tonight, would you be filled with?joy and excitement to?leave your current life behind for?2 weeks? Or would you be filled with?anxiety and stress?
?
Your answer will depend on how you view vacations.
?
Let me share?with you a little secret.?
?
Vacations are the biggest self-imposed and self-inflicted changes in people's lives. Yes, you actually choose the date, the duration, the location, and the people to execute this change with. You are in control of your schedule, your clothes, your food and your to-do list during vacations. You intentionally and physically change your environment from the one you live in.?
?
What do vacations have to do with your change?management skills?
?
Well, you might be part of a special group of people who go on vacation but who can't be on vacation. Transitioning from home to vacation mode is so overwhelming for you, you just can't cope with all the changes happening at once.?
?
Your challenges are:
1. how to be on vacation while feeling in control of what is happening back at work,
2. how to feel less overwhelmed by all the new stuff.?
?
What you want is to trust that everything will be ok at work, and to be able to focus your attention on truly be with your family or friends.?
You want memories and photos to remember these vacations and to be proud of who you were so you can proudly share and talk about it with others.?
You want to be present for the first time during your vacation. Moreover, you want?to feel in control of your emotions and to give yourself permission to relax.
?
So, how do you do that?
?
The answer is simple. You create a work-to-vacation transition plan before you go on your next vacation. In it you figure out your transition process to get what you want from a vacation: laughter, joy, time to relax, and feeling good about yourself.?
?
So, if you are one of these special people who goes on vacation, but can't be on vacation, let me tell you can change that.?
?
That doesn't have to be your reality anymore.?
?
Choose to live life differently.
