When preparing a speech, the start(introduction) and the end (conclusion) are critical. They set the stage and leave a lasting impression. Here’s how you can craft the ‘start of talk’ section effectively, along with examples to illustrate the approach:
?
Introduction:
Don’t start your talk with "Good morning. How are you all? It's nice weather outside. Thanks to Mr.Sharma for inviting us. Let’s learn something new today."
Instead, your introduction should immediately capture the audience's attention, establish your credibility, and present the core message.
A powerful start of your talk often includes;
-A personal story,
-A provocative question, or
-A surprising fact.
?
Key Elements:
?? - Hook: Engage the audience with an intriguing statement, question, or story.
?? - Context: In brevity, explain why the topic matters to each one listening to you.
?? - Purpose: Quickly share what the audience can expect to learn.
?
Example:
? "Imagine waking up tomorrow and unable to communicate with anyone around you. For over a decade, that was my reality. I lost my voice, both physically and emotionally. But today, I’m here to talk about how I reclaimed it—and how you can find yours too."
? (A personal story that draws in the audience emotionally)
??
Fitting the above example now into the framework:
?? - Hook: Imagine waking up tomorrow and not being able to communicate with anyone around you.

???-?Purpose: how you can find yours too.
?
A few words here and there are fine as far as you are natural. Remember the essence and emotion should be the same. And now you have understood how to have a powerful start to your talk.
