How Are You Gonna Find A Job By Year End If You Can't Get Past The ATS?

I talk to a lot of job seekers who say they have a goal to find their next job by year end.

But when I ask what they plan to do differently to achieve that goal, I get one of three basic responses:

• Send more resumes
• Spend more time networking
• "I don't know"

All three of these responses have the same basic problem. If you can't get your resume past the ATS, none of these solutions will work to find your next job by year end.

Sending more resumes when your resume is almost always screened out by the ATS means you'll just spend more time to get the same disappointing results. Spending more time networking won't help when the way you've been taught to network (by outplacement and most career coaches/authors) fails to get you past the ATS.

It's because both of these responses indicate your strategy is based on luck and volume ... neither of which work well to get your resume past Applicant Tracking Systems.

The reason I get the first two answers is because of the third answer "I don't know". The career coaches and outplacement firms you rely on haven't taught you how to get through or around Applicant Tracking Systems - Instead, they've taught you strategies based on luck and volume.
