How are you feeling today? This question begins every Coaching Session because it supports you to slow down enough to articulate the two words that best reflect what is on your heart and mind. Knowing how you feel is one way to know yourself and critical for Self-Leadership, the foundation of The Well-Being Coaching Program.
The Feel Wheel is a tool to help you identify your feelings with more specific terms instead of the overused defaults of good, busy, or tired. The center of the wheel provides more general feelings with the middle and outside describing more specific ones. Two words are used because you can feel anxious and excited at the same time and it’s important to be aware of both.
Can you tell me more about that? After you identify how you feel, further exploration helps you recognize how your perception of an event that already happened or even one that hasn’t, is affecting you. While you might want to blame someone or something else for how you feel, taking responsibility for your reaction empowers you to do something different.
How can you support yourself right now? Self-Leadership is nurturing the relationship you have with yourself by making the best decisions to support you. This requires you to know what you need, like more rest or less activity, and then making sure you get it. We have proven when you make better decisions, you feel better because you decrease your stress and and become more connected, engaged, and energized in your life.
