How You Do One Thing Is How You Do Everything

How are your workout goals going? Do you "wish" you had the time to workout, eat better, drink more water, etc? Have you had that chat with yourself about being accountable to YOURSELF? It's actually a problem with many. We will beat ourselves up for not getting up and going for a walk in the morning or some other health routine, and we wonder why we can't hold other people accountable to do their job. "How you do one thing is how you do everything." Practicing accountability on yourself is quite interesting. You'd be surprised at how bad you might be at it. Everything from doing what you said you would do, honoring commitments, etc. But let's get back to health and it's impact on your day, family, business and life.
I just finished an amazing workout this morning and I feel extremely energized. I had taken a break for 9 days and have been dragging every day since. So I wanted to share a few thoughts about health and the energy impacts.
If your health is not at the highest possible level, the implications for your business and family will be profound. In fact, if you are like how I have been in the past and focused on everyone else except yourself, you may put exercise and eating healthy to the side while you focus on your family. That will come to haunt you at some point in the future. Trust me on that.
Focusing on energy management is critical to your business, your family and your life. Imagine the implication on your business and personal results if you're not at your best for a large proportion of your day. I firmly believe and seen first hand the impact your mind, body, and spirit have on your results when your energy is low. So, here are some tips to keep in keep your energy up.
1. Hydration: Most people are chronically dehydrated. Hydration is one of the top two health issues facing the world today (the other is sugar intake). Over the last 6 months, I have been focusing on drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day, and I must say, both my mind and my body feel better. I feel clarity and alert. I am positioned to make better decisions each day.
2. Now sugar: I felt I was pretty well versed on understanding the impacts of sugar on my body, but yet I wasn't able to make a difference. Sugar's power over me was too great. There is nothing like a slice of chocolate cake. Last year I tried a no-sugar month and while painful in the begin, the rewards were tremendous after the first week. Then I fell off the sugar-wagon. But I am back in it again, keeping my intact to less than 10 teaspoons a day and I have more energy than ever. If you don't believe me or understand what sugar does to your body, watch "That Sugar Film", it will change your perspective and give you a few haunting images that you can't get out of your head ever again. You'll understand when you get to the clip about Mountain Dew.
3. Exercise: It stands to reason that oxygenating the body on a regular basis, i.e. daily, is one of the most important disciplines in life. To be clear, oxygenating the body takes more than just sucking air into the lungs. The body needs to move, to pump blood around the system and infuse each cell with oxygen. You don't need to be a weight lifter or run 10 miles a day to do this well. A simple 30-minute walk at a brisk pace in fresh air will dramatically improve your health. Today I started a new routine and a 100 day workout challenge.
What every you decide to do for your health is up to you. Just be accountable to your own health. "How you do one thing is how you do everything." If you can't take care of yourself, how can you take care of anyone else?
