How YOU create energy

Yesterday, I had the honor of hearing a live talk from the one and only, David Goggins. ?If you don’t know Goggins, he is a retired Navy Seal, an elite ultra-marathon runner, a smoke jumper, an author, a speaker, and so much more, but he came from an extremely traumatic and abusive childhood and at 24 years of age, he found himself a 300 pound man, lonely, depressed and hopeless, before turning his life completely around.

Goggins is full of wise words, but I wanted to share these particular words today. He said yesterday, “I create energy where there is none.” ?These are words I personally remind myself often. ?It is all too easy to NOT take action because we aren’t feeling motivated, or energized, or inspired. ?We tell ourselves we don’t have the energy, but it is important to know that YOU create energy! ?

The average person can live 1-2 months without food, 3 days without water, and 200+ hours without sleep. ?You may feel tired, or hungry, or thirsty but it’s your MIND that is holding you back. ?

There are absolutely days when I don’t FEEL like going to the gym. ?There are mornings when I don’t want to get out of my cozy bed when the early morning alarm goes off. ?There are long work days when the last thing I want to do is cook a healthy dinner, and then clean up, and then prepare my meals for the next day so I’m not caught in a bind without healthy options for lunch. ?Even Goggins admits that there are days when he stares at his shoes in the corner and dreads putting them on, but he always does. ?

Your brain will play tricks on you. ?It will tell you you’ve done enough. ?It will tell you that no one will know, that you can make it up tomorrow, or that you already messed up so why even bother continuing? ?It’ll tell you whatever you need to hear to justify why you don’t have the energy and why you can’t. ?But I promise you this- YOU CAN. You have the ability to create energy where there is none, but it comes from your mind. ?It’s your thoughts and your beliefs about who you are and what you can do. This is where your energy lies. ?You CAN take another step, and then another, and another. ?You CAN push out one more rep. You CAN make a healthy meal EVEN when the fast food is calling your name and offering all the excuses you need. ? ?

You are SO much more capable. ?You harness SO much more energy and vitality than you may feel in this moment but it is up to you to reveal it. ?Your mind can make you an unstoppable force or stop you in your tracks. ?But it’s up to YOU to choose. ?I want to challenge you to find your energy in a time when you feel like there is none. ?Stop telling yourself you don’t have energy and start deciding that you do. ?Then dig deep and release it. ?You might just surprise yourself.
