How You Can Use ChatGPT to Make Your Marketing Simple (and Save You Hours Every Week)

How You Can Use ChatGPT to Make Your Marketing Simple (and Save You Hours Every Week)

So, have you ever stared at a blank screen, unsure how to start writing a LinkedIn post or an email? It’s frustrating, right? But what if I told you there’s a way to make that blank-page anxiety a thing of the past? Well, that’s where ChatGPT comes in.

ChatGPT isn’t just another tool; it’s like having a personal assistant who can write, brainstorm, and even plan for you. And the best part? It can save you hours of work every week.

Let me break it down for you.

What is ChatGPT, and Why is It Different?

ChatGPT is like a really clever librarian. You give it instructions (called prompts), and it doesn’t just point you to a bunch of books like Google would. Instead, it gathers the information, summarises it, and gives you exactly what you asked for—all tied up in a neat little package.

And because it’s powered by AI, it can do so much more than be a search engine. It can create things for you from scratch, like blog posts, LinkedIn updates, and even lead magnets for your business.

How Can HR Consultants Use ChatGPT?

Here’s the exciting bit: ChatGPT can help you with practically anything you need for your HR consultancy.

  • Create LinkedIn posts in seconds: Instead of spending hours thinking about what to write, you can just type, “Write a LinkedIn post announcing a free HR workshop with a professional but approachable tone,” and boom—it’s done.
  • Build email campaigns effortlessly: Planning a launch? Ask ChatGPT for a 7-day email sequence, and it’ll do the heavy lifting for you.
  • Generate blog posts and articles: ChatGPT can outline, draft, and even polish blog posts for your website. Just don’t forget to tweak them to make them truly yours.
  • Design lead magnets: Need a checklist, guide, or free download to attract clients? Ask ChatGPT for a “5 Common HR Mistakes Accountants Make and How to Avoid Them” checklist—it’s that easy.
  • Streamline client communications: Whether it’s proposals, follow-up emails, or even sales scripts, ChatGPT can handle it.

Basically, if you can imagine it, ChatGPT can probably create it.

How to Use ChatGPT Like a Pro

So, here’s where most people go wrong: they don’t give ChatGPT enough detail. The magic is in the prompt.

1. Be Specific

The more detail you give ChatGPT, the better the results. For example:

  • Vague Prompt: “Write about HR consulting.”
  • Specific Prompt: “Write a 500-word LinkedIn post in British English with emojis and trending hashtags, explaining why local accountancy firms in Kent should outsource HR services.”

Why does this matter? Because ChatGPT can only work with what you give it. If you’re vague, it’ll guess—and you’ll probably end up rewriting half of it.

2. Create a Memory Bank

ChatGPT can learn your style, audience, and preferences. Here’s how:

  • Go to your ChatGPT settings and add details like, “I write for HR consultants who need help with marketing. Use a conversational and friendly tone.”
  • Now, every time you use ChatGPT, it’ll know exactly how to tailor its responses to you.

Why is this helpful? Because it saves you time. You won’t have to repeat yourself every time you start a new project.

3. Use Temporary Chats for Privacy

Sometimes, you might be working on sensitive information—like a confidential client proposal. You can tell ChatGPT, “Don’t store this chat,” or start a temporary session to keep things private.

Why does this matter? Because it keeps your data secure and ensures your work stays confidential.

4. Organise and Delete Old Chats

Think of your ChatGPT history like your desk. If it’s cluttered, it’s hard to find what you need. So rename important chats and delete the ones you don’t need anymore.

Why does this matter? Because a tidy workspace (even a digital one) makes you more productive.

5. Review and Edit Everything

No matter how good ChatGPT is, it’s still a tool. Always review and tweak what it creates for you. Add your personal touch to make it perfect.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

  • Vague Prompts: If you’re not clear, ChatGPT might create something generic that doesn’t fit your needs.
  • Blind Copy-Pasting: Don’t just copy and paste what it gives you without checking it. Make sure it aligns with your tone and message.
  • Overloading ChatGPT: If you cram too much into one prompt, it might get confused. Break your requests into smaller chunks for better results.

Nick’s Top Tips for Using ChatGPT

To get the most out of ChatGPT, here are some tried-and-tested tips I swear by:

1. Always ask for British English

ChatGPT defaults to American spelling, which means you’ll get lots of “prioritize” instead of “prioritise.” Asking it to use British English saves you the hassle of editing later.

2. Write for a 10-year-old

And here’s why: simpler language makes your content easier to understand for everyone. Nobody likes reading something they have to decode.

3. Ask ChatGPT, “Do you need anything else?”

Sometimes, your instructions might be vague. When you ask this question, ChatGPT will tell you what extra details it needs to create exactly what you’re looking for.

4. Get ChatGPT to repeat back what it’s understood

This is a great way to avoid mistakes. If ChatGPT misinterprets your request, you can fix it before it creates the wrong thing.

5. Avoid ChatGPT clichés

Because ChatGPT loves words like “transform” and “boost,” I always tell it to avoid overly generic language. This keeps my content sounding fresh and personal.

6. Add emojis and hashtags

Want to save time? Ask ChatGPT to include emojis and trending hashtags in your social media posts. For example: “Add an emoji to each line and five trending hashtags at the end.”

7. Upload examples

If you have examples of content you like or don’t like, upload them as a document. This helps ChatGPT understand your style better and create something closer to what you need.

8. Create a memory bank

And here’s a game-changer: ChatGPT can remember your audience, tone, and preferences. Go to settings, click “Customise ChatGPT,” and add details like, “I write for HR consultants who struggle with marketing and sales.” This saves you time because you won’t have to repeat these instructions every time.

9. Start new chats for new topics

Think of each ChatGPT chat like a separate folder. Keeping topics organised makes it easier to find what you need later.

10. Always review the output

Finally, remember that ChatGPT isn’t perfect. It’ll give you 95% of the work, but the last 5% is up to you to tweak and refine.

Why Should You Try ChatGPT?

In case you missed it, Chat GPT saves you time, reduces stress, and gives you the tools to create amazing content without breaking a sweat. It basically does 95% of the work for you. What's not to like?
