How You Can Support American Red Cross Relief Efforts

Our hearts break for the losses suffered by the people of Hawaii in what is now the deadliest American wildfire of the last century. Thousands of structures in Lahaina, Maui have been destroyed, leaving many people mourning, displaced, and without shelter.

At the same time, the Western United States is facing the impacts of both wildfires and Tropical Storm Hilary, which has caused mudslides, power outages, and stranded people in their homes.?

The good news: by supporting the critical efforts of the American Red Cross , we can do something to help.

As an American Red Cross Disaster Responder member, TCS has made a corporate contribution that will help ensure the short-term availability of supplies and relief.

In Maui, the American Red Cross is on the ground in Lahaina and in other affected areas, working with partners to move relief supplies from Maui from the mainland, helping people who are searching for missing loved ones, and providing shelter, food, and comfort.

After meeting immediate needs, they will provide mass care services, including mental health support, for up to 8,000 survivors—and shelter thousands of people who have been displaced—for at least the next eight months.

And in states impacted by wildfires and Tropical Storm Hilary, the Red Cross is opening shelters and providing food and other relief support for as long as they are needed.

As a Board member of the American Red Cross Greater New York region, I have seen firsthand how contributions of all sizes can dramatically improve the lives of people affected by natural disasters.
