The Internet of Things - a buzz phrase? Not quite. It's here to stay and it's already part of our lives.
Simply put, IoT is a system of integrated devices, machines, digital or mechanical, able to transfer data across the network without human intervention.
Of course, to set it all up and to keep it all working smoothly, there has to be a human involved, but the aim is to have a pure non-human system.
Internet of Things in use today
1. Home Tech Systems
By navigating and using an app on your phone you can control a number of devices in your home, such as the aircon, tv, lights, pool pump, alarm, and whatever else can be connected to the internet.
2. Smart Security
Imagine being able to manage the security of your office or home from your device. It is possible. From the cameras to the activation and deactivation of your alarm system, IoT can make that real for you.
3. Package Tracking
The likes of DHL use a tracking system that can tell you at any given time exactly where your parcel is, where it's been and where it's going to. In addition, it can track the vehicles used to transport the items.
4. Factory Control
From the moment the factory manufacturing process starts to the time that the item is neatly packaged and on its way for distribution, it can be tracked and monitored. Many factories are going this route, saving them time and money in the long run.
If you see a need for the Internet of Things within your business, reach out and let's start that conversation.
