The art of failing is key to success
The more I think about it,
The more it makes sense.
Fail fast,
Restart fast,
Learn fast,
Get better fast,
Succeed fast.
The outcome of your success depends on how quickly you can fail,
How quickly you can learn a lesson, take action to fix the mistake, and come back stronger.
Here's what matters in any pursuit?to?succeed (my current belief and opinion).
Singular focus on 1 outcome -> applied focused?intensity on the basics -> minimising future mistakes.
If you?take?care of all those things, you will succeed.?
Let's take each of these points and break them down a bit.
Singular focus on 1 outcome.
This helps you speed up the process.
If you chase 2 rabbits, you get none.
The shiny coin syndrome.
In health and fat loss this looks like trying to lose fat, get stronger, fitter and more muscle, all at once.
This will take longer for you to succeed together, versus attacking each?one?on it's own.
By trying to do everything at once, you will fail harder and longer and won't learn lessons.
In this example, to succeed, you want to lose fat fast.
This would give you a healthier baseline to gain strength and muscle.
Once you build strength and muscle, then you can focus on?using all that new muscle and getting fitter.
Be singularly focused on 1 thing if you want to succeed, master that, then move on... if you need to.
Often there's always a way to do the basics better.
Make more money by scaling,
Losing more fat in an easier way,
Being more productive, getting more work done in less time.?
You don't need different, you need more of the same... but better.
Onto the next point which I?touched on.
Focused intensity on the basics.
You don't need different, new or fancy.
The basics work, in any industry.
People get distracted with everything new which is how marketers and advertising works.
New is sexy,
But consistent results aren't sexy.
They are boring.
The most successful person?does the boring basic stuff more often.
If you want to make this more meaningful then you need to attach a reason, you're "why" to doing the boring stuff.
If you're losing fat, you need to eat less and figure out a way to track that,
And move more, and figure out a way to track that too.
That can get boring, tedious and monotonous.
But if your reason is to live longer so you can see your kids grow up and be there to experience all the joys they have to come,
Then you will happily track your metrics.

Do the boring stuff,
Learn what works for you... and what doesn't.
There's going to be lots of failures on that path.
But don't give up.
Keep failing, keep learning.
The failures are deterrents but they are part of the process.
You will get better, just don't give up.
Lastly, you need to minimise future mistakes.
While failing fast is part of it,
If you never change, course correct and adapt,
You will forever be failing.
For example if you're trying to lose fat,
And always end up binging on trigger foods because?they're?in your cupboard at home,
And?you keep buying that food,
You will always be at the mercy of your willpower and environment.
Fail, review, learn the lesson, make the change and come back better.
Having a process that you review your actions and outcomes is key to success.
Track the numbers.
One motto I have is "data not drama" or another reframe is "facts over feelings".
If you're failing but feel like you're doing everything right,
And you don't track the data that matters,
You're allowing the drama of your head to influence the outcomes of your actions.
Failing fast is great,
But you need to make sure you learn the lesson and come back better next time.?
So that's how to fail your way to success.
As I write this post, it's really a message to myself because I can be just as guilty of opposing these rules.
A habit of mine is taking too long to make a decision.
By not making a decision, you're actually deciding against taking action,
Which is true failure without a lesson.
Success loves speed.
It also loves data.
Take these lessons and see how to apply them to your life.
How can you succeed faster by...
1 - doing less things, cut?the noise and distractions?
2 - increasing focus on less things, but better things?
3 - applying those learnings to reduce future mistakes?
If you're struggling with anything in life, I'd love to hear your answers to the above 3 questions.
