The Schedule to Write Your Book in Under 30 Days
Welcome to July! It's finally here — as is my kickoff article about How to Write Your Book in Under 30 Days. As you may know, in daily articles this month, I will be explaining how to write a book in 30 days.
And I will also be writing a book along with you.
If you will writing a book, too, please let me know in the comments!
I will be excited to see how many books we end up writing together.
And it is not a coincidence that I chose July 30th as the deadline for the book project I'm doing publicly with my followers, because July 30th is also International Friendship Day!
Information You Need to Get Your Book Written
As many of you know, I have already been teasing a few critical elements of the book-writing process — including the schedule. In fact, I addressed a number of important topics to get your book done in 30 days in six articles at the end of June 2020.

Day 1 — Planning Not Writing
Here's the good news: You don't need to write anything today!
But you do need to do some pretty fancy project management.
This includes setting your calendar for the next 30 days, and beginning to look to assemble a team to help make your book become a reality.
If you haven't reviewed my teaser article about your schedule on Day 1 above, do that now. It has everything you need to plan out to get your book written in under 30 days.
Remember, the first rule of writing a book is: A good book is a done book!
So, remember that your goal is to finish the book. And with the information laid out in this and other forthcoming articles, I hope that you can easily envision one singular truth —
You can totally do this!
Stick to the Schedule
If you stick to the schedule your book will be done in under 30 days.
Boom!
Part of the reason this will happen is because the process I've described and laid out is to produce a very digestible, consumable, and writable book.
Your book does not need to be a 400 page tome. In fact, shorter is usually going to be better. Because more people will actually read a shorter book, and you'll be happier writing a short book.
Based on the schedule I've previously outlined, you will not be writing a monstrous book. And you will be writing in manageable chunks.
In fact, you’ll pretty much be writing just 18 pages per day for just about a week. And those won’t be full pages of small font. You can have a lot of white space on the pages.
Plus, if you don’t hit 180 pages even, you can add a couple pages for notes at the back of the book — just like some of my books do.
Now, you might think that seems lazy, but it’s not.
It actually makes your book a lot easier to read. It’s also why this kind of text presentation and format has become so popular of LinkedIn.
After all, just like with social media, most people are likely to read your book digitally. So, making the spacing generous and the font easy to read is actually a big help.
And no one cares about page count on Kindle.
All that matters is that your book has a sufficient thickness when it’s printed in paperback.
You may have noticed that I did not mention hardback books here or in other articles, and there are two reasons.
First, hardback books are tougher to read — even though they look very nice.
Second, it can require more time.
And the goal here is to get your book done in under 30 days.
So, stick to the schedule and get it done on time!
It Sounds Easy Because it is!
If this sounds easy, it’s because it is. Getting the book written and released will be the easy past and 30 days will fly by!
But don’t worry, there will still be a lot to do once your book is released. You will probably be writing about it, talking about it, and re-purposing your content from it for months, years, or maybe even decades to come.
That’s some of the greatest value of the book!
But I'll cover that in a later article in a couple weeks.
Tomorrow, we'll talk more about your team.
You need the right people to get your book done right in under 30 days!
