How to Write a Value-Packed Blog Post That Generates Interest in Your Business
No, blogging is not dead.
As long as people are still getting on the internet and looking things up, blogging will always be a valuable way to get potential customers to your website.
According to DemandMetric, 80% of internet users interact with both social media sites and blogs. It really is the SEO hack that so many companies know about, but many don't utilize to its fullest potential.
I've written blogs for multiple tech entrepreneurs and SaaS companies over the past few years. ChurnZero, Staircase AI, EverAfter, and CSM Practice. Just to name a few.
And I've learned a few things about the blog posts that perform well and the ones that don't. I'll write another article soon about a few SEO-related tips for your blog, like keyword research and backlinks. But right now, let's focus on adding value for your readers. Which, many will say, is SEO.
I guess you could say these tips are the less technical side of SEO.

Drive Action for Your Readers
Creating actionable takeaways for your readers to implement is a great way to establish brand authority. While blogs shouldn't be used to sell but rather to inform and, at times, entertain your audience, it's still a great way to get your readers to take some kind of action.
This action can help them move one step closer to becoming customers or, if they're already customers, closer to becoming customers for life.
For example, I write mainly for SaaS companies. If I'm writing an article about how to automate customer onboarding better, I will add the following action items throughout the blog:
- Onboarding automation tools to look into
- How the reader can evaluate their onboarding processes and identify areas that can be automated
- The initial steps the reader should take to make sure internal teams are ready to implement a new onboarding process
Even if these steps may not apply to the reader's current situation, they still allow the company to establish authority on the subject, which has a huge ROI.
Websites with active blogs have 434% more indexed pages and 97% more inbound links than those without, according to BKA Content.
The More Skimable, The Better
You have to assume that your readers won't click on your blog post and read it from top to bottom.
It's up to you to make it skimmable so two things ideally happen:
- They stop and read at least a few parts and get some value
- They notice that your blog is actually worth reading and scroll back up to the top
There are a few simple ways to accomplish this:

Make Lists
You've probably noticed that I've already incorporated a few in this blog post. In the context of website blogs, bulleted lists are far more effective than lengthy paragraphs. A rule of thumb when blogging is using bullet points when you're listing anything off.
Highlight Words and Phrases
Don't go overboard with this. It will lose its savor if tons of words and phrases are highlighted. Doing this will allow the reader to catch certain words and phrases as they are skimming, and it may cause them to stop and read a sentence or a paragraph.
Use Quality Copy to Write Your Headers
Go all in with this.
Channel your inner Don Draper and use quality copywriting for your headers.
The headers you write for sections of your blog posts will be the most noticeable words for your readers as they skim. Make them eye-catching. For example, the first header I wrote for the first section of this post was "Make Your Blogs Actionable." Pretty good. But then I changed it to what it is now, "Drive Action For Your Readers."

Write in Your Brand Voice

Don't overcomplicate your blogs. People are busy and need answers to their problems.
The best way to make your blog a more enjoyable experience for your readers is to give them what they want and do it in a way that allows your brand to shine.
Anyone can plug a question into an AI tool and get some generic answer that may or not be helpful.
When someone comes to your blog for answers, there's a good chance they went the AI route, which wasn't helpful. Reassure them that they are reading a post written by subject matter experts who are ready and willing to help.
