How to write a scientific abstract

The key starting point for the construction of a coherent abstract is the representation of the data. The quantitative expression of the findings is crucial. Tables, figures, and images are optimal components to communicate the outcome to readers. Even if these items cannot be submitted with the abstract, they provide the foundations for quantitative statements to be given in the results in the text. Competent reviewers may reject outright without review abstracts that state that the results will be expressed at the event. A succinct expression of the key findings in standard English will be welcomed by reviewers and other readers.?

After the results are written, then the methods to attain those output can be constructed. There are typically severe limits on the number of characters. The main activities must be clearly expressed in simple sentences without jargon.

Finally, implications and future directions can be discussed. A statement of the background and objective can be readily written.

After a sensible draft is written, colleagues can be asked to read the document to suggest improvements. Grammar and spelling must be checked. The instructions must be reread to make sure that each detail is followed.?

Study of abstracts from prior meetings is helpful to gain awareness of the format and the strategy that led to successful submissions.

Sometimes there can be technical blocks if too many submissions are made just before the deadline. Therefore, submit the abstract at least a day beforehand. If there are problems with submission, then technical support may be contacted to resolve the issues.
