How to Make Employee Engagement an Everyday Thing

Just a few years ago, employee engagement was a new topic for leaders and HR professionals.

Engagement used to be all about formal surveys, team-building outings and events.

Now, we see employee engagement more holistically. When it’s done right, engagement is simple and organic. It’s built into the work – not something separate and apart from it.

Since the early days, employee engagement has exploded as an HR philosophy and a set of business practices with major impact on any organization's success.

It’s obvious that when employees are engaged in their work and feel valued, everything gets better.

When people are engaged the culture is healthier, employees are more tuned into their work and one another, and customers and other stakeholders have better experiences with your organization, too. HR pros and business leaders often struggle to incorporate an engagement mindset and processes into their operations. That makes sense, because when engagement isn’t an everyday activity, it can easily fall into the bucket, “Someday, when we have time, we’ll focus on this.”

That’s a shame!

We know that engagement is important, but it’s not always easy to build engagement into the many other priorities managers and HR partners juggle on a daily basis.

Increasingly, they are turning to digital tools that make engaging with employees easier, faster and more effective.

Unfortunately though, installing and implementing a new digital tool isn’t always as simple or painless as it should be.

Managers and HR professionals have very full plates already.

If it isn’t easy or it isn’t intuitive to add a new tool to their toolkit, they won’t do it – and who can blame them?

Connecteam, a Human Workplace Partner, has launched an app for frontline, non-desk employees that simplified communication and makes employee engagement activities easy and fun without any complicated setup process or learning curve.

Employees and their managers can use the Connecteam app within a minute of downloading it, to start sharing the good energy that makes teams vibrant and fun to be part of.

Connecteam’s two-way engagement – from managers to their employees and from employees to managers – lets the art of acknowledging, informing and encouraging the team be as easy and rewarding as it should be.

It should be intuitive and easy to build engagement, for example through actions like these:

·?????? Let team members know when a new employee has joined the team

·?????? Recognize an accomplishment, birthday or another special occasion

·?????? Ask for input on a decision

·?????? Survey the team on any topic

·?????? Acknowledge an individual employee or a team for their contributions

·?????? Keep everybody up to date on schedule shifts, policy changes and upcoming deadlines

·?????? Let your manager know when you need help

·?????? Send a note of thanks, a gift card or a pick-me-up gift

·?????? Collaborate on a tricky problem, or

·?????? Celebrate a win!

The Connecteam app makes two-way engagement part of every workday, by making engagement activities simple and fun. Here are three ways (out of a possible infinity of ways) you can use Connecteam in your organization to build trust, innovation, collaboration and a winning culture:

The Path to Victory

When there’s a major event or project coming up, use the Connecteam app to keep the team in synch and give affirmation to team members along the way.

The app lets teams share their learning and A-ha moments, give input on project steps and ask for and share advice to keep moving forward!

We’re Glad You’re Here

When there’s a new employee on your team, the Connecteam app lets the newcomer meet and connect with their teammates virtually and feel welcomed right away. They can ask for and receive advice, share their early wins and participate in surveys and discussions to become a valued part of the team quickly.

I Appreciate You

The Connecteam app lets managers and coworkers respond to the many ups and downs in a workweek by acknowledging one another even when they’re working different shifts or in different locations. After all, who gets enough acknowledgment? The more we can remind people around us that we value them and their support, the better!

Here’s the link to learn more about Connecteam!

If you’ve been waiting to build engagement into your culture, there’s no need to wait any more.

You can start right now!
