How To Write Proper Welcome Email Series- Email Marketing Guide

Overview:

Your welcome email series is the first set of emails your customers or subscribers receive, after joining your email list or interacting with your business.

Below, I have written formulas that you can copy and paste to your notepad; to use in your email marketing practices… I am a direct response copywriter, hence the bulk of these email formulas, are designed to incite or push customers to take specific actions

Before starting out or creating a Welcome Email series, these are very important features needed on your website,

  1. Fly Out Forms
  2. Embedded Forms
  3. Pop-up forms;

These forms are the fastest and easiest ways to build your email marketing list.

Let’s drive right into building your email series;

The single goal of your first email series; is to get subscribers to engage with your emails and to set the tone of your business relationship.

Welcome Email 1

This is the first email to be sent immediately your customer signs up on your website or mobile app, or through your form. This can be made easier through the use of automation or autoresponders in your choice of email client.

The content to focus on, with this type of email includes;

  1. A Welcome Message or address
  2. A Brand Introduction message, written and crafted by a seasoned copywriter
  3. A very obvious “Thank You” message to the customer for choosing to join your list- and make the customer feel important and recognized.
  4. If the embedded form or sign up form, contains an offer; send required details for customers to take on your offer such as coupon codes.

Suggested Subject Lines For This Kind Of Email: Welcome to (your business/brand name), You’re now part of the (brand name) family

Welcome Email 2

This type of email is expected to be sent 1–2 days, after your subscriber signed up. I prefer to send these type of email within 8–24 hours of signing up.

You should only send if subscriber did not convert or take action through the first email

Welcome email 2 should only contain these type of content:

  1. Your Brand Story- Subscribers often convert/take action after relating more with your story. Who you are, where your business started from, why it was started are good ways to start
  2. Your Business Unique Quality standards- this is a clear writing of your brand’s promise to the customer/subscriber.
  3. Features & Benefits- of shopping with your brand or your company

Suggested Subject Lines: Here’s Our Story, You heard it here first, Learn More about us.

Welcome Email 3

This email is expected to to be sent, 3 days after Welcome email 1 or ,1–2days after Welcome email 2.

The aim of this email is to create a community based reference to the subscriber, hence this email should have content focusing on:

  1. Social Proofs- which details customer reviews and ratings of your business, celebrity or brand endorsements, retail and sales footprints, community based services etc
  2. Show Your Popular Products/Local favorites

Suggested Subject Lines: Word On The Street!, The Love Is Real!, Everyone is Loving This including (Celebrity name),

You should aim to hit 20% to 30% open rates with this email type.

Welcome Email 4:

This serves basically to reinforce your welcome email 3. You may send this to only subscribers who did not convert from Welcome Email 3. This email should carry more internal community content such as

  1. Founder’s Address
  2. Details about the employees of your business
  3. Reinforce your unique brand promises and use founder’s story (strive more to be inspirational)

Suggested Subject Lines: Meet The Founders Of (Brand Name), Meet our team, Let’s get social (subscriber’s first name).

Utilizing these four types of Welcome Email Series is however not everything that’s possible, to further reinforce and fully utilize your email marketing budget; you need to learn the 5 types of Email that is necessary for your business success.
