How to Write Painful Stories...

Over the last 15 months, I've seen three dozen women through the writing & publishing process of sharing a painful turning point in their lives. All these turning points made these women stronger.
As a retired journalist turned personal essayist and storyteller trainer, I'm very familiar with the publishing industry. At some point in my career path I made a pact with myself to write about my own personal growth and get it published. So I'm also familiar with writing about emotionally distressful experiences.
A video I did today in my Facebook Group, The Soulful Storyteller, might be helpful for you if you'd like to write about an experience that has made you stronger - while causing some emotional distress at the same time.
In my professional opinion, there is two different mindsets for sharing painful stories.
We are either in the category of - "She/he did THIS TO me." Or we're in the category of - "I want to share about this experience I WENT THROUGH to help someone else."
It's so important to be emotionally ready to write about painful stories. It's not easy. Check out this video for tips, guidance and examples.
As always, happy storytelling! And feel free to email me at [email protected] with questions.
