How to write an effective headline

Do you remember hearing headline is the most important element in the copy?

Most people say: 60%, 70%, or even more than 80%.

I think it depends on each person.

But sure, the headline is the most important element in the copy, website, and content.

Headline is the first thing that readers see

Readers will be attracted by it first then the rest?of copy.

If the headline doesn't attract readers, they will skip the articles.

In other words, if the headline is not compelling, they will not continue to read the articles.

A good headline is clear, concise, and attention-grabbing.

There are many formulas to write headlines, but 4U's is one important concept.

It's enough.

Easy to understand and remember.

I knew it from the classic book by Bob Bly- The Copywriter Handbook.

4 U's:

  • useful: Headline provides the readers some value
  • Unique: Headline is different from the headline of an article on the same topic.
  • Urgent: Headline creates a sense of urgency
  • Ultra-specific: Headline is specific.

* Useful

This is the first requirement of the headline

Does it contain the information the readers can use?

For example: "How to Make $1000 a Month in Passive Income"

* Unique:

Is the information in the headline unique?

or is it covered in a unique way?

For instance: "The Secret to Losing Weight Without Dieting"

* Urgent:

So readers feel the information is essential to continue to read the whole article?

For instance: "This New Cancer Treatment Could Save Your Life"

* Ultra-specific:

Is the information in the headline covered in the specific term?

Like facts, figures, and numbers.

For example: "The 5 Best Ways to Get Rid of Cellulite"

By following these tips, you can write compelling headlines that will grab the attention of your readers and get them to read your content.
