How To Write A Cool Video Script
Derbhile Graham
I help people become better writers. When you know what to say, then you'll know how to sell.
When people think of videos, they think of the shiny stuff. The lighting. The music in the background. The visual effects. But for a video to work, you also need words. You need a video that speaks to your customers.
The best way to find those words is to create a video script. Your video script will tell you what to say when you're recording the video.
There's an art to writing this video script. You aim to write it like you speak. Your audience will feel like you're talking directly to them, and that you're warm and approachable.
These simple techniques will help you create a video script that speaks to your viewers.
Deliver One Message
Let's imagine you're writing a video script for a one-minute video you’re putting up on Instagram. One minute isn't long, so you need to be concise. The best way to write your script is to decide what message you want to deliver, and stick to that message. This will stop you from bogging down your script with detail.

Keep Your Words Short
If you want to write like you speak, use the kind of words people use in their everyday conversation. Keep your sentences short as well. You're less likely to stumble when you're delivering your script.
Read Your Script Aloud
When you've decided on the wording for your script, read it out loud. This will help you spot words or sentences that are too long. If you stumble that's a sign that the words need to go. You can also time yourself reading the script. To be on the safe side, aim for 120 words, to give yourself time to breathe.
