If you’re looking to advertise through TV or streaming commercials, there are tried and true methods and commercial script templates to use to help you get started.

Why A Commercial?

Each type of advertisement has different tools to use and benefits, but the end goal is the same: convert sales. Maybe your marketing team has identified that your target market spends time on YouTube or ad-supported Hulu, so this would be a good way to reach them.

Speak to Your Audience

When writing a commercial script, or any other form of advertising, it’s all about delivering a message to your target audience that makes them feel like your product will improve their lives, so they must buy it.

Speak to their pain points and use psychological triggers such as inspiring hope, creating a sense of urgency, and positioning your brand as an authority.

Be Memorable

There are so many commercials that go beyond being simply funny—they’re downright wacky and leave you scratching your head! But they’re entertaining and most importantly, memorable which is crucial for any commercial.

There are many approaches to take to be memorable, from tugging at your viewers’ heartstrings to being quotably funny.

Commercial scripts have two components: audio and visual. Then each component has multiple subcomponents such as background noise or music, sound effects, and visual background details.

Consider using a commercial script template to start brainstorming and mapping out every detail of your script.

Audience Testing

Whether you’re working for a small business or a large corporation, it’s important to get audience feedback by running test screenings to determine response. Make sure the message resonates, the punchline gets laughs, and audiences are left wanting to learn more about your product or service.
