How to Write ChatGPT Prompts That Give You the Output You Want

If you’ve been using ChatGPT to create content but feel frustrated because the output is too academic, lacks a human touch, is boring or generic, perhaps you need to re-examine your prompts.

Here’s how to fix this:

Think of Your Desired Response

Your prompts should be specific and tailored to the response you want. A vague prompt such as, “Write a Facebook Ad headline for a skincare product that helps women look younger”, isn’t good enough.

You need to specify, which age group you’re targeting, what common concerns are you addressing, what makes the product unique and so on.

When ChatGPT understands the task better, it will deliver the output you desire.

Rebrief instead of Regenerate

?If you aren’t happy with the response you get, avoid clicking the “regenerate” button. That will only give you another version of the response, which isn’t going to be a lot better.

Instead look at the response and write a new prompt with a different approach that gives ChatGPT a completely different insight, so you get a better and unique output.

Role Play

Ask ChatGPT to assume the role of the content creator to give it the right context.

For example, if you’re crating content for a social media post, instruct ChatGPT to assume the role of a social media content creator.

If you want to generate a sales script, ask ChatGPT to assume the role of a star salesperson.

Getting ChatGPT to assume the role based on your output will give you better results than simply telling ChatGPT to generate content based on your brief.

Specify Tonality

You must guide ChatGPT to generate content in the voice you want.

One way to do this is to provide a paragraph of content and ask ChatGPT to follow the style and tonality.

Another way is to ask ChatGPT to write in the voice someone you want to emulate. For instance, if you’re a copywriter, you can ask ChatGPT to write in the voice of David Ogilvy, Dan Kennedy, John Carlton or other copywriting experts whose style matches yours.

Section-By-Section

If you’re writing long-form content like a sales letter, video sales letter, blog post or other content that’s more than a few lines, create separate prompts for each.

For instance, start with Headline Prompts, then create prompts for an outline of the content and once you’re happy, ask ChatGPT to generate the entire content.

This will save you time and the frustration of repeated iterations of the content generated by ChatGPT.

So go ahead and give it a try to create awesome content with ChatGPT.
