What do your social media captions say about you and your business? Are they conveying the right message, are they effective, are they intriguing? It’s something to think about! After all, those few little words can have more impact than you might realize!
HOW DO YOU WRITE THE PERFECT CAPTION?
I’m going to give you some tips and tricks on how to come up with the perfect captions for Instagram in particular. Designed to help you keep followers, get new followers, and boost engagement.?
- Connect: Your captions should not only provide some sort of connection and relevance to whatever it is your post or video is about, but should also make an effort to connect to your audience in order to get them interested and engaging.
- You be you: Try to let your personality shine through. Make yourself relatable to your audience so they can connect with you.
- Give a little…get a lot: Give your audience a reason to read your posts. Teach them something, share something they may not know, keep them coming back for more by providing valuable information to them.
- Practice makes perfect: DO NOT write your caption directly in Instagram. It’s always better to use a third-party scheduler or some sort of separate template to first write up your draft, review it, edit it, and so on. Take a second look and sit on it for a few before you post!
- Be a storyteller: Try to create a bit of suspense to keep people interested in what you have to say. Share personal stories, share ideas, and get creative!
- Pay attention to length: There is no set length for captions when it comes to Instagram, but make sure what you are putting out there is valuable. Don’t write a lengthy post just for the sake of having a lot of copy. Sometimes shorter is sweeter, and sometimes the opposite is true. It’s all about quality over quantity.
- Hook and CTA: These are a must for any caption. The first sentence should ask a question, be something catchy, or be exciting. Something to grab your reader and “hook” them. Then at the end of your post, tell your audience what you want them to do with a CTA. Don’t leave them guessing. CTAs are a great way to involve your audience in your posts and boost engagement.
- Add a bit of flair: Emojis are a great way to spice up an otherwise bland post. They attract the eye and can help convey the emotion behind your text.
- Give the people what they want: Do you know your audience? Do you know what they want? If not, you need to figure that out in order to write successful captions. Looking at analytics to see what’s working well and what isn’t is a great way to do this.
- Keep it clean: Make sure to use hashtags in an organized fashion. Make sure to tag the products or people you are referring to. Use clean line breaks, correct grammar, and overall make it visually appealing to read.
So keep these in mind the next time you craft a post for Instagram. Writing a caption may take more effort sometimes, but the payoff will be worth it. Don’t have time? Let us write them for you!
