How To Write Powerful Copy At Lightspeed!

A few weeks ago, I wrote a LinkedIn post about my two favorite copywriting books. One of those books was Robert Bly’s The Big Book of Words That Sell. This book has 1200 words and phrases (though I didn’t count them myself) and it’s an instant swipe file for lazy copywriters like me.

If you’re looking for a fast way to write copy that sells, this little book is a gold mine of persuasion.

This is not a sponsored review, either. I really do love the book that much! It even has an endorsement from Carline Anglade-Cole. You're out of the loop if you call yourself a copywriter and don’t know about her.

Anyway, if you can’t write 10-12 effective headlines for whatever you’re selling using this book, you should get out of copywriting. It’s that good.

In fact, I keep it at my desk 24/7. And I reference it the most out of any copywriting book I own (and I own several).

But I must give you a word of caution. If you artificially cram these words in your copy, people will be able to tell. I’ve made that mistake before.

But when you use the words and phrases to keep the persuasion juices flowing, you’ll see a massive improvement in your persuasion ability.

Let me give you an example.

Under the heading “Lure the Prospect Into the Copy,” you’ll see words like "banish" and "enjoy". You’ll also see phrases like “Do you have?” and “Questions to ask.”

O.K. Let’s give it a shot, shall we?

“5 Questions to ask before you hire a copywriter. This could save you thousands in failed ad spend.”

“Banish bad copy forever with my simple 3-step method for copy that converts. Every time!”

Now, that's something we can work with!

If you have a modicum of skill and this book, you’ll have to try to write bad copy. So pick up the book yourself and give it a try.
