How would you rate your quality of life?

How would you rate your quality of life?

Recently I dropped a poll on here to see what my audience's ambitions were fuelled by.

There were four options available:

  1. Mental resilience
  2. Quality of life
  3. Longevity of life
  4. Personal success

Which do you think was the overwhelming favourite?...

It was quality of life, by a significant distance.

Followed by mental resilience (which is telling).

Even more interesting (to me at least) is that longevity of life had the least votes...

I guess you can look at this through two lenses:

  1. People aren't thinking long term at all - which I can say from my experience is absolutely true.
  2. People decided for the other factors thinking that getting them right would contribute to longevity - which I also agree with.

But instead of harping on about the least popular answer how about we delve into your quality of life.

Here are some confronting numbers for you to consider and reflect on;

  • A Harvard Business Review study found that 50% of the CEO's they questioned experienced loneliness in their role which is one of the single most painful positions to place any individual. What's the worst case scenario in prisons...solitary confinement.
  • 47% of executives cited their job as a major obstacle to relationship satisfaction due to long working hours and never ending stress.
  • A study that Deloitte carried out found that 77% of professionals have experienced burnout in their current job - isn't that crazy!
  • Nearly 60% of CEO's today experience mental health struggles such as anxiety, chronic stress and even depression.
  • In a professional setting you can expect 69% of workers to report being in a state of high stress due to work.
  • 60% of executives today report having poor sleep quality which impacts their personal and professional lives alike.
  • Over 50% of executives fail to meet the recommended quantity of exercise per week.

To put it in the most simple terms, high pressure environments negatively impact your quality of life.

To add to that - it will also reduce your lifespan into the future.

This might not be at the top of your priority list now, but one day it will be.

My coaching philosophy is firmly married to three key components.

Firstly, that we need to increase quality of life for today and the immediate days that follow.

Secondly, that we need to lay the foundations for unshakeable behaviours/habits that will stand firmly during periods of test.

Lastly, that we combine both of the above to create longevity.

I believe that we should aspire to be at our best today, and for as many days to follow as possible.

You may not be able to think to far into the distance just yet but I promise that as you begin to regulate your body and increase your mental bandwidth, this becomes easier to work on.

I'd love you to get some real, personalised insights on your current quality of life.

So I have a quick quiz available here for you to take (takes 90s on average).

You'll get personalised results and a report emailed to you directly - without asking for a thing in return.

What you choose to do with this information is up to you.

Should you need to take some action once you see these results; I'd be happy to talk them through with you.
