I booked a DEMO session, very eager to look at the platform and system they have.
Started great with the welcome and chit chat.
I started to get quite frustrated when she kept asking me qualifying questions & performing need analysis on me WITHOUT having a CONVERSATION with me. I feel like I am being questioned and I have to answer all those lists of questionnaires before I can see the DEMO.
Have you been in a similar situation before?
15 mins passed.
I almost wanted to hang up the call, till she finally showed me the demo.
I am impressed with the platform, and all that the platform and system can do (that is the reason why I booked the DEMO as I was already convinced when I browsed the website earlier).
I started to get so excited about the features and use case and asked a lot of questions.
2 mins left. I couldn’t ask more questions (but I am ready to discuss commercial details but ended up booking another hour for another DEMO session.
I was thinking if I am the one doing the demo, how would I do it differently?
- Always allocate a buffer of 15mins extra for each call instead of doing a back to back call with other clients so that when the customer is ready to engage more, I am ready. When a client is ready to buy, I must be ready to sell (probably postpone other things to close it on the spot)
- Instead of asking the pre-set series of need analysis questions one by one, turn it into conversation by repeating the last word from the customer and probe more questions from there.
- Blend in need analysis questions throughout the demo session instead of separating it into 2 parts.
How would you do it differently?
