How Would Our Choices Change If We Could Experience More Than One Life?
Hello, everyone!
I think the life we live is all about our choices, and our choices are shaped by what we learn and what we experience. Any choice we make has the potential to change our whole life, and I think we live somewhere between making the right choices and making the wrong choices. So, how would our choices change if we could see all possible outcomes, if we could know which path would lead us to the outcome we want? In this article, I will try to develop a perspective on this with you.
Have a good read!
I don't know how many different ways there are to live a life, and I don't know if there is such a thing as a life lived right. I don't know if there is such a thing as a right life, but I don't think there is such a thing as a life lived wrongly. Thousands of options come before us to shape our lives. Every day, we make choices and decisions among many important or unimportant options. These decisions lead us to different paths, different experiences, and different outcomes. However, every path we choose brings other paths that we do not choose. Can we imagine what these missed alternatives could have added to our lives? Maybe life is not only about the choices we make but also the ones we don't make.

In 2018, Netflix released Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, an interactive movie. Those of you who watched it will surely remember; this movie offered a completely choice-based experience that was shaped by the decisions made by the viewers. The story moved in different directions depending on the choices the viewer made, and each choice led to completely different outcomes. This was made possible by an algorithm. The film was designed in a complex structure that allowed us to explore the possible consequences of our choices. The image above is a diagram showing how these choices and outcomes in the movie are interconnected. But if we had known about this algorithm of choices in the movie in advance, would we have chosen different paths? Perhaps, if we knew the consequences of our choices, we would make completely different decisions. But life itself does not offer such a map. Still, the idea is worth making us think: If we could experience different lives or foresee future outcomes, how would we shape our choices?
Perhaps knowing the outcome of each choice would make life more complicated than easier. The burden of each choice would make the losses as clear as the opportunities it offers us. The regrets of the paths we didn't take would be as visible as the ones we did choose, which would make us more likely to question our decisions. But it would also open the door to more conscious and passionate choices. Because the chance to experience more than one life would have reminded us that each decision is its own unique journey. Perhaps we would realize that the most important thing in each choice is not to get stuck on the right or wrong paths, but to learn from that journey.
In conclusion, each choice leaves a mark on our lives. If we had the chance to experience different lives, perhaps we would have become someone very different from the person we are today. But beyond all possibilities, the only truth we have is the choices we make right now. Life sometimes pushes us to walk an unknown path, and this is where the beauty of this path lies. As we make our choices, we must remember to embrace the magic of uncertainty and remember that every decision is a part of who we are. Maybe one day, we will be able to look back on our past choices from a different perspective, but until then, recognizing that each journey is unique may be the biggest step forward.
