HOW NOT TO WORK LIKE A HAMSTER
You know the hamster on the wheel – running and running, and not going anywhere. He seems to like it though, doesn’t he??
And that part’s important. I’ll come back to it.
I’ve been writing about procrastination lately and managing yourself better so you get more of the important work done, the work that drives your business forward. I’m still on that train because it’s important and because it’s something that holds everybody back.?
One habit or one behavior that keeps you from those important tasks and I’m not really sure if it has a name or if it does, I don’t know what the name is. But this behaviour entails you, and think about whether you do this, is you just launch yourself into your day without much thought or without any real plan. You just head to site and crack on or you head to the office and crack on with whatever presents itself and let’s face it, there’s plenty to do, isn’t there??
I’m not talking about being lazy here or not caring. I’m talking about just putting your head down and getting on with it and I think that’s a very common thing for people to do.?
If you’ve got jobs on, you’ve got quotes to do, you’ve got people who need you, you’ve got customers who want you, there’s plenty to do, you’re not going to be lazy. You’re not being lazy if you do this, there’s plenty to do.?

Jon likes helping business owners and especially owners of trades businesses. Life can be a bit frustrating when you run a business and a trade business can be even more so.
If you're a tradie and you've got successful then you probably feel like your life is not your own, that you are always making sure everyone else is OK before you and you never get everything done. You probably work too many hours each week and take your work home with you and you probably don't make as much money as you should.
Jon reckons this stuff is fixable and that you can fix it by making some fairly simple changes to the way you do things. He should know, he's been helping people do it for a long time and he's seen the same changes work time after time. He lives in Byron Bay because he likes it and he doesn't surf because he says it's too hard but he likes beer and food very much indeed. He's written for various magazines and newspapers in his time. Mostly because they think he must know something if he's survived this long. His children disagree.
