How Women Consultants Can Lead Inclusion

How Women Consultants Can Lead Inclusion

Welcome to the latest edition of the Seven Figure Consultant LinkedIn Newsletter for Women in Consulting. Don't forget that you can get daily updates from Jessica in your LinkedIn news feed by accessing her LinkedIn profile and hitting Follow. She will be sharing insights and discussions through the week that she would love to hear your views on.

How do you build people up and create opportunities while working remotely?

One of the many challenges this year has thrown at businesses has been how to keep teams together while they are working apart. Whether you work as a consultant in-house or always remotely, inclusion will affect you and others around you. Many of the women I work with are having to juggle different aspects of their lives in ways they have not done before.

As Covid-19 physically separates us and diversity becomes even more hidden, it’s vital to understand the different experiences of colleagues and how these affect their lives. Are people being given opportunities at work? Are their contributions being asked for? What circumstances might be making their lives more difficult? Are we creating inclusive workplaces, products and services?

Our role as businesswomen and as experts in our industries gives us the opportunity to lead inclusion. We can design the businesses we want to see more of.

My guest on the Seven Figure Consultant Podcast this week is Kay Fabella, a DEI consultant and remote teams specialist who builds diversity, equity and inclusion solutions for companies with distributed teams. She works with organisations around the world, from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.

Kay shared her insights on the power of inclusion, creating opportunities and the part women consultants can play as allies and leaders.

We discussed:

●     Equity and why it is a critical part of the equation

●     Recognising that people have different starting points in life

●     How to think about socio-economic factors which could impact members of your team in different ways

●     Being better allies to each other

●     Dismantling systems to create more inclusivity

●     The gender pay gap for women of colour and how women consultants can close this

●     Making your network more inclusive

●     Leaning in to discomfort and learning through it

And tell me in the comments, do you feel women consultants are able to change the culture of organisations they work with?

Free Report - The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Consulting Business

I've created a free PDF report called The Six Elements of a Seven Figure Business. It’s my most popular free resource and in it I outline the 6 areas of unscaled businesses that need to change in order to move past being ‘booked up and burned out’ and shifting into that higher gear that gets you cruising again.

It’s the framework that helps consultant women like you find their feet and get back to leading the business, rather than being buried in client work and back-end business operations.

Sign up here for your PDF report, and I'll show you the six elements your consultancy needs to make the shift from a nice little 6-figure lifestyle business to a serious 7-figure enterprise.
