If you are in sales, you know how hard it is to win a deal. We ride the rollercoaster of emotions, and all too often, the deal stalls or drifts away without any clear understanding of where it is or why it did not close. We struggle to understand all the factors in play and tend to follow our instincts and do what the client requests. We need a way of taking the complexity and condensing it into a metaphor that we can understand and manage, hence mapping the sale to a game. We have all played games before, whether a card game, board game or a sport. Without this metaphor, we are blind to where we are and what we must do to win.
