How To Win Every Day
Like you, I want to win today, tomorrow, next week; in fact, I want to win every single day. I want to win at winning.
How do you win every day? It starts with the decision to go for it and keep on making that decision – every day.
As American football player and super coach, Vince Lombardi, once said, “Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all time thing. You don’t win once in a while, you don’t do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.”
So, how do you get into this winning mindset consistently? For me, there are three key rules to win today. And every day.
First, be positive. Sounds simple but this is a massive and crucial step. If you’re feeling negative, if you’re acting negatively, if you’re surrounding yourself with negative people and influences, that is what you’re going to get right back.
On the flip side, if you’re feeling positive, if you’re acting positively, if you’re surrounding yourself with positive people and influences, you’ll be putting yourself in the best position to allow the good stuff to happen to you and your loved ones. Ditch the negative, quit the pessimism, and focus on the attitude of winning.
And, as a bonus, science says that thinking positively beats stress like nothing else.
Second, be confident. Without self-belief and self-esteem you’re not in possession of the driver force that will lead you to success as you will stop ourselves from deciding to really go for what you want in life.
There’s an all-too-common perception that there’s a fine line between being confident and being arrogant. This is wholly untrue – they are worlds apart; not the same thing at all. Real, true, natural confidence is a humble and honest trust in yourself and your abilities and the belief that you can succeed at whatever you really want to do.
And third, turn up the work ethic. If you’re not willing to dedicate yourself and work hard, well, you’ve probably already lost. I really don’t think there’s anyone who’s a winner who hasn’t put in a lot of energy and commitment. Hard work pays huge dividends in all respects as it increases the probability of becoming successful.
I totally agree with Tim Notke who said “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.”
Personally, I live and work by these three rules every day and I’d urge you to do the same if you want to place yourself in the best position to achieve true success by winning every day.
