How (and why) uncertainty increases our ability for adaptive learning.
This is Karl Lokko eloquently describing the exact benefits of uncertainty, driving the brian into heightened states of arousal and ability for adaptive learning.
Each of the Uncertainty Experts' real world survival strategies for overcoming uncertainty map directly to scientific concepts.
What we see in Karls explanation of uncertainty is his ability to rewire his thoughts, something in science we call Neuroplasticity.
Neuroplasticity is the brain’s ability to form and reorganize its connections and electrical pathways in response to learning and new experience, to literally grow new pathways.?
In short Neuroplasticity means it is possible to change the way we think.
Until recently, we thought this ability to adapt and change stopped by adulthood. But brain scans prove neuroplasticity can occur at any age. An old dog actually can learn new tricks.?
Furthermore, brain scans show exposure to periods of Uncertainty actually pushes the brain into a state of high arousal where this growth takes place.
What Karl makes clear, and the science agrees, Uncertainty is a driver of neuroplasticity, enabling us to learn to think in new ways, act and respond in new ways, in short to do more than ever before.
So the more we try to avoid uncertainty, seeking habitual safety patterns instead, be it through denial, avoidance, wine, chocolate, the harder it is to change our ways.?

The good news is by identifying behaviour patterns we want to change, and by embracing uncertainty we can unlock the opportunity to rewire our brain and hardwire new responses.
So like Karl says, we can do more, be more and see more.?
Or as Neuroscientist, Lisa Feldman Barrett recommends replacing panic with knowledge-seeking, thereby? taking advantage of a moment of high arousal.
This is backed up by 2018 research from Yale University which suggests that heightened awareness caused by Uncertainty puts the brain into an optimum state for learning.
This way, Barrett points out, once you’ve calmed down, you might have used the panic productively, and have all the information you need.
In our pilot series of Uncertainty Experts we proved we were abel to drive Neuroplasticity, as Katherine Templar Lewis the shows lead scientist said:
“What has emerged from the data is changes in not just skill sets but mind sets. We are seeing actual neuroplasticity* and that is impressive”, there is a clear increase seen over the series of metacognition, how they reflect on themselves. This is huge, as incredibly hard to do outside of therapy courses. Having worked in entertainment, science and education, this is exceptional."
Exceptional, but also available. The Pilot Series of Uncertainty Experts was robustly measured against a control group in tests designed by lead researchers from UCL's Brain Sciences Lab and have been update for the first open public screenings in November.
Please come and join us for the November Series of Uncertainty Experts and let us see if we can retrain your brain to see the opportunity in uncertainty too: www.uncertaintyexperts.com
