How/ Where to Recruit Techies? ??
I was making a take-home assignment for one of the great companies some time ago and they asked me how I would recruit a tech team in a month, I decided to share my knowledge with you too, simply because I love you ??!
What do I usually start with?
- Market research with LI Talent Insights/ or just normal LinkedIn, why not? We should all know where are our tech talents located.
What do you do NEXT? if you have ?????? money...
- Use agencies- if you are a f*reaking millioner (they take 20-30% of the annual devs salary) nothing bad about agencies, some are just truly great but expensive :)
- Offer to acquire a team in ex. Ukraine, Serbia, Romania? Or outsource team? (they are very good but you might have the security issues)
- You could Improve or create the Referral Program if you still don't have one, good people know good people (remember how they say, show me your friend and I will tell you who you are? Java Developer, of course!)
- Stackoverflow, I like to source there because not many of you do!
- LI Paid Jobs (self-explanatory, we all love LinkedIn)
- LI Paid Ads for selected Talent Pools- choose the target 20 Python Developers and just make them see your logo every day :)
- Amazing Hiring, nice tool- plus, it gives you the emails...Sherlock!
- Codility Global Challenge (I know Zalando is sometimes doing it), great for the brand!
- Hiring Days- this one I've heard from Mr. Amazon, they organize hiring days in different countries and make the offers by the end of the day (rumors says it :))
- Freelancers? :)
Limited budget but GREAT ?????? ideas:
- Silver Candidates/Medalists, we always forget about them! (those who rejected us in the past) Why not re-engage with them with a better offer, they are more likely to engage again!?
- Instagram- do a team story as a post (jobs ads as stories), Twitter, Insta, FB, we are all so so Digital!
- Include Employee Branding Team to attract new markets- because they know their... JOB! Don't be shy to ask for help!
- Introducing Remote work as an option to ease hiring? Ask your CTO, maybe she will agree, who knows?!
- Referrals= making sourcing party, learning from Booking.com, I've heard they are amazing at those, order food and ask your developers to refer during lunch!
Happy Hiring, let me know if that's useful!
Yours,
Anastasiia

5 年Great article, good points. Another thought: be present at local conferences/meetups where you can showcase the company and the open positions. Don't forget to bring some people from the tech department who can talk first hand about the job and the teams, and share the non-confidential aspects of the tech stack they are using.
