The human brain is very complex, but even with all those complexities it is still vulnerable to hackers. Not the same kind of hackers who hack computer networks and systems, although the principles are still the same. Brain hackers can seek out and exploit vulnerabilities in the human brain just like computer hackers do. The result is the implantation of false memories or making a victim feel like they can’t trust their own memories.
Memory is a vital function that involves multiple areas of the brain working in tandem. You can’t just point to one spot and say that is where memories are stored. Because all the parts of the brain work together, sometimes the brain can’t tell the difference between memory and imagination. This is the function many manipulators exploit to implant false memories into a victim- suggest that details are different than they remember and then let the brain do the rest.
