How Well Do Law Enforcement Agencies Take Care of Their Officers?

How Well Do Law Enforcement Agencies Take Care of Their Officers?

ARE YOU a Law Enforcement Officer? Are you a Chief of Police? Are you a Director of Public Safety?

Have you NEVER listened to the podcast “Hey Chaplain”?

Then I implore all to listen to the latest episode of “Hey Chaplain”, eve if you never listen to any other episode.

Why?:

  • it will change your perspective about the reality of Law Enforcement
  • it provides lessons learned for all LEOs
  • it provides lessons learned for Leadership of Law Enforcement Agencies
  • it provides lessons learned for all Support Teams within an agency
  • it literally could SAVE YOUR LIFE
  • it reminds us all that LEOs serving agencies are not just numbers; bodies to fill positions; not just budget line items; LEOs are #Humans
  • it can make you think about the phrase “Back the Blue” - are they just feel good words or do we actually support our LEOs in all aspects of their career?

Here is what I shared with SGT Sugrue after listening to the latest episode of “Hey Chaplain” featuring SGT Sugrue as Police Chaplain Jared Altic, Host and Executive Producer interviews SGT Sugrue and asks him to share some highlights on the backstory to SGT Sugrue’s new book “Relentless Courage”.

Here’s what I wrote to SGT Sugrue after listening to this lates podcast:

Sgt. Michael Sugrue - Ret. What courage you show every time you relive your traumatic history so that others might benefit from your experience.
You describe succinctly on the latest “Hey Chaplain” podcast (hosted by police chaplain Jared Altic) lessons learned which apply not only to LEOs, but also for police Agencies’ Leadership, LEO Support Teams (EAP, Field Training Officers, Police Chaplain programs, Peer Support Teams, Critical Incident Teams, agency psychologists, and licensed mental health professionals who work directly with first responders), and civilian agency oversight committees.
You hit the high points of your book “Relentless Courage” and your personal experience.
I pray your book becomes required reading for every Law Enforcement Training Academy cadet, every new Chief of Police, every Support Team within an agency, and every civilian who is protected 24/7 by police in their local communities across to the US.
As a law enforcement chaplain, it helps me look in a new light the phrase “Back the Blue” and what it really means (do we follow through and do the work to truly “back the blue”?).
SGT Sugrue reminds us all LEOs are not just numbers, but #HumanBeings and we should treat them as such continuously from recruitment to retirement.
Truly your are not only a hero, you are a survivor, with “Relentless Courage”. SGT Sugrue.
Thank you for having the courage of sharing your personal experiences do tgat others might glean lessons learned which are peppered throughout your story.
Well done Sir!
Chaplain Jeff Wolfe
