However, in drier, colder regions, the biggest issue with cardboard is that the material is more fragile and prone to tears and cracks in the paper or cardboard.

When cardboard is kept in excessively dry conditions for a long time, the extreme deficiency in moisture causes the sheet?to behave like a sponge that has been completely dried out. It becomes incredibly rigid and brittle, making it more difficult to fold paper into a box without running the danger of it tearing or cracking.
