After watching all 3 seasons of "The Profit" in a few weeks me and my wife had the opportunity to meet Marcus Lemonis. How is that possible?
The back story...
I had been meaning to d/l twitter, and last Saturday after returning from an exhausting trip (Frio River tubing with friends), my wife and I decided to sit and watch #theprofit.
After that I wanted more so I listened to a podcast of @marcuslemonis and there was some discussion about twitter and it's benefits. Signed up an followed Mr. Lemonis first and saw his tweet... meet me at Coppell, TX...
Wow! My first home was in Coppell, only problem was Coppell is just north of Dallas and we live in Houston, 4 hrs away. There was no other info so I started researching on my phone where that address was and TCBY popped up, I called them and they weren't sure of the correct address. I opened my laptop and googled the address and found the correct place. Tea2go, which is now called "American Tea and Spice Shop"
So I picked up my phone and called. The sweet girl on the phone which turned out to be the daughter of the owner for the store answered said all she could say was they were opening at noon. I congratulated her on getting a deal from Marcus and said I'll be there at 11am.
We got up at 6am, left Houston at 7am and made it there at 10:50am and as we pulled up only one other visitor was there and they were filming outside.
BOOM! We were excited! We had gotten there early and he was already there!
We noticed a some of the film crew around the corner so I went and talked to them to get the scoop on my possibilities of actually getting to meet Marcus. They were local and not sure. I kept walking around and talking to others until I ran into someone that could give me a bit of background.
Marcus was very approachable and we talked for a few seconds. Tried to get through my elevator speech but got cut short, I did get to speak with him again so it worked out.
I did talk to others in his team and this is what I learned...
For the show Marcus doesn't talk to any of the possible partners without a camera present. I think this is so his reaction is genuine so what you hear and see on the TV is what he's learned at the same time we have. It makes for great TV.
The man is a genius and he's inspired me, my goal in life is to become financially independent enough to help others much like he has. I've been doing it on much smaller scale and after seeing the possibilities through Marcus I'm excited about impacting others on a much larger scale. Yes, part of setting a goal is writing it down and publishing it so here it is. Hold me accountable, I don't see that being an issue here ;)
I hope you enjoyed the story and it inspires you to be determined. Set a goal, write it down and go tell someone about it. You can do anything you put your mind to.
