One of the most common challenges Coaches face is marketing ourselves. The public are immediately put off if we come across as too pushy, too arrogant, or too "in their face". So how can we still successfully market ourselves?
The first thing is to be able to communicate our passion to help others/provide a service. Passion and enthusiasm is contagious! So if we can allow people to see how much we love our work, this draws clients to us.
We are our own marketing tool- who we are, how we work, how we behave, what we say...all of these things will help us market ourselves. We market ourselves with each session we coach, with each public speaking engagement we take on. If we do a good job, then others will recommend us- so this is what we need to keep in the forefront of our mind. We are always quietly promoting ourselves.
And that brings me to the third thing- we need to be authentically ourselves. The minute we try to be fancy, clients will pick it up, and will be turned off. So allow our clients to see who we are, without any frills and fancies!
Lastly, when trying to build our practice, one of the most effective ways of doing this is giving our current clients a voucher (or three)-which they can give away to someone they feel would benefit from coaching. I suggest doing this after a particularly great session with a client.
