How we launched our company rebrand in 3 weeks with No-Code.

I’m writing this post just 5 days before our new brand goes live…

So by the time you read this, I might be dead.

lol. Not really, but the launch will have happened.

Hopefully... ??

Ok, but in all seriousness, today I’m here to break down how we built our new brand in just three weeks with 1.5 people and no-code.

I say that only half-jokingly.

The truth is that a lot of the glory goes to? Caio Calderari , our chief no-code officer. He led this project from the get-go.

I’m the half-person in this story. ??

Also, a quick disclaimer. We were not planning on launching our rebrand just 4 weeks ago. We were actually preparing the release of our new no-code academy when we realized we had a three-week window for the rebrand.

So in this post, I want to cover the eight steps we used and how it went.

Let’s go.

  1. Getting Inspiration

The first step was to put together a mood board, research competitors and figure out the overall look and feel we wanted. Here we had to consider our strategic positioning and how our brand would reflect that. We are a future of education company, and we want our brand to feel that way to people.

In this stage, Caio started gathering screenshots on Miro and playing around with design styles in Figma. The goal was to agree on an overall direction of the brand so that we could move forward in representing that visually. Let me remind you that what you see is the finished product, not the first iteration :)

2. Building Brand Guidelines

Once we agreed on the general direction we wanted to go in, Caio started playing around with colors, finding visual elements, selecting fonts, and developing ideas for the first version logo. These design elements would be used to create all of the assets required for the website, social accounts, and other places the brand would live. The outcome of this is a file that everyone can use to create branded items from flyers to physical merchandise.

3. Determining the scope

At this point in the process, we needed to determine the scope of this rebrand. Our goal was to figure out all the things we wanted to rebrand for this first phase. Essentially where will this brand live? Here were the elements we chose to create :

  • New Website — We built an entirely new website with a no-code.
  • Free Course — We rebranded our free course.
  • Social Media — We designed our social accounts and created templates for future posts.
  • Newsletter — We created an e-mail template with the new branding.
  • Merchandise — We made the first hats and shirts.
  • Video Elements — We created video animations, transitions and thumbnails for our editor.
  • Blog — We redesigned our blog and created thumbnail templates.
  • Presentation Deck — We made a template with different slide layouts.
  • Digital Assets — We created promotional banners, flyers and more.

Now that we had defined the projects to work on each one had specific requirements. Yes here every placement has a different image dimension and requirements. So you want to list out all of the assets required and make sure the people making them have all the specs. Designer, copywriter, video animator etc.

4. Creating the assets

Now that we knew exactly what we needed to create, it was time to get to work. We first determined the tasks that would require outside help and activated those people early. This is useful because it will avoid potential delays down the line. We hired a logo animator and outsourced some editing too. Caio created the visual elements and I wrote the copy.

5. Building the website

In parallel, we built the structure of our website using a no-code tool called Webflow. We also created the free course using Softr to promote our full programs. Once the structure was done we added the visual elements and copy. This gave us a perfect base to start discussing and finetuning based on the flow of information. From there we made a couple of last-minute changes and it was ready to go.

6. Preparing the launch

Once we had all the assets in production and were finetuning others we started to focus on the elements for the launch itself on different channels. Here was the simple communication strategy we chose to go with:

  • 7 day social media campaign (Youtube, Linkedin, TikTok, Insta and Facebook)
  • Two newsletters — One for the announcement and one for the blog article.
  • An animated logo that would also be used for intros on future videos.
  • A blog article (yes this one)
  • A making-of video (coming tomorrow on YT)
  • A launch event — Announcing soon

The goal here was to promote the launch to our core audience and and community and to prepare for the academy launch next month.

Step 7 — Launch Day

This is a delicate dance. At this point, it becomes more about coordinating all the moving pieces. Going live with the website and quickly changing all the public-facing brand elements like social accounts. At this stage Caio created a board on Miro to track all the tasks to do before going live. This helped to avoid anything falling through the cracks. We also created a folder with the copy and the designs for each post and assigned roles of action.

Step 8 — Feedback and Finetuning

After launching, you will start getting all sorts of feedback. Even comments that are totally uncalled for :) It’s normal. Remember, you asked for this.

That’s in fact why it is a great moment to gather feedback, however, at this point, I would recommend holding on to that feedback until you gather enough. Once you have enough, get your team together to discuss if there are any changes you’d like to make to improve what you have.

Ok, so hopefully the rebrand went well. By now I’m probably deep into the preparations for the release of the WeAreNoCode Academy.
