- Our client is a Tool Manufacturer and supplier operating from the United States. It manufactures and sells machinery for industrial production. In the past, our client manufacturing processes were based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV. They wanted to upgrade their ERP system to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018 and they needed help with it. We were asked to provide consulting services in upgrading their existing Microsoft NAV 5.0 ERP system – it was a complex project and we accepted the invitation with pleasure and enthusiasm! What is Microsoft Dynamics NAV?

- Our client was using an older version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV (NAV 5.0) and looking to upgrade to NAV 2018 to address their business and technical challenges. They wanted to implement a new ERP system, to replace their previous version of NAV so that they could add new features and functionality.
- We worked on the Enhancement for Manufacturing Module. Provided Intercompany Cross shipment functionality. Migrated all the Critical Reports from 5.0 to NAV 2018.
- Our client required a system that would help them manage inventory and stock levels, as well as provide automated reporting with real-time insights on production and sales activity. They also wanted to connect these reports to their ERP systems, so that they could take better control of their business's performance and profitability.
- We worked with them to develop a robust system that could integrate with all their ERP systems in order to make purchasing decisions more efficient, improve business management and operations, and even allow for remote workforces to effectively manage inventory.
- As a result, the manufacturing process became simpler due to automation in the consumption process Performance improved Intercompany transfers and shipments were automated, decreasing manual intervention, which increased productivity by 60% and human errors by 80%.

- There are many moving parts in this project, and our client needed our help with the entire process. This included consulting services during the software upgrade period, as well as project management and planning services for the long term. During the consulting services, we provided our customers with project management services. This included project management of the planning process and the implementation. We also provided our client with dedicated Project Managers throughout the project. One of the reasons we were hired for this project was to help with project management.
Final preparation for the final day of the upgrade.
- This is the final day of the upgrade and the moment we have been waiting for! Now we can start the upgrade process. The first thing we do is to make sure that the machine has been upgraded to the latest version. Then we download the 64-bit version of Dynamics NAV 2018 from Microsoft’s official website. We then create a new local installation of Dynamics NAV 2017, by unzipping the downloaded file. We then go through the installation wizard and finish the installation. After the installation, we go through the upgrade wizard and upgrade the application server. At the same time, we perform some housekeeping tasks and take backup of the current instance of the application server. After the application server has been upgraded, we finish the upgrade of Dynamics NAV.

- After all the work was done, Microsoft Dynamics NAV version 18.0 was successfully installed on the new machine! So, the new ERP system was ready to go! Now the new system was up and running in the production environment and was creating great results. The new system has a lot of new features, improved user experience, and much more. The team was extremely happy with the results and are planning to stay with this system in the upcoming years. Our client was extremely happy with our help as well.
