How we have moved the Open Loyalty engine to the next level in 2022
At Open Loyalty , our goal is to deliver the world’s most flexible loyalty engine, loved by both marketers and developers.?We do so by delivering the best-in-breed set of building blocks for creating customized loyalty program mechanisms and following MACH technology principles. The solution is dedicated to everyone seeking to build custom loyalty and gamification solutions.
2022 was a groundbreaking year for Open Loyalty in terms of product evolution, and I know that we’re light years ahead with our loyalty engine.
Every 2 weeks we were releasing product improvements. Here I've listed my 5 favorite new Open Loyalty changes that were introduced in 2022.
Campaigns module
After several months of development, we've switched to advanced campaigns based on triggers and rules built on top of multiple conditions and effects.?This feature allowed for simple and advanced campaign configurations, including campaigns with many rules. Loyalty marketers are only limited by their imagination from now on.
My favorite use cases are direct campaigns targeted for specific member segments and transaction details, referral campaigns with rules for both referrer and referee, running campaigns based on customer behavior (eg. adding a product review, reaching specific tier, updating profile), creating campaigns triggered when reaching a milestone.
Open Loyalty Language
We’ve equipped Open Loyalty with a meta-language that enables the creation of any configuration of campaigns, rewards, or segmentation you can imagine! For advanced users, we offer the option of creating custom expressions, where they can work closely with our customer success team to set highly personalized settings.

Custom event engine
By adding a custom event engine to Open Loyalty’s roots, we gave marketers the opportunity to collect any type of data within the loyalty engine, match the data with a particular member’s profile and use it to create engaging campaigns. This feature opened up unlimited possibilities for creating behavior-based campaigns.
Digital wallets
In the middle of 2022, we rapidly extended our points engine and transformed it into a full-scale multi-wallet functionality with advanced loyalty currency settings. This is super useful for every loyalty program scheme with multiple loyalty units e.g. points and stars, or when you plan to introduce any kind of loyalty currency alongside cashback or prepaid cards.
Gamification module
The gamification module is also one of my favorites. Our recent Loyalty Trends 2023 research (we’ve asked top loyalty experts about the future of loyalty programs) confirmed that more and more companies plan to engage customers with gamified loyalty schemes. And so, we’ve enriched campaigns with achievement module to allow marketers to create any kind of challenges or milestones based on transactions, referrals, or other behavioral event matched with the customer.
