How we focused on employee wellness in 2023
What is the most important factor in building a successful company? The answer is the employees. We at intella believe that our team is our most important asset, which is why employee wellness and branding are a top priority in our company.?
According to Gallup ’s Global Workplace Report for 2023, 44% of workers report being under stress every single day with 59% of them not feeling engaged and 18% of them being actively disengaged at work.?
In the same report, when asked, 41% of employees would change their engagement or culture to feel happier at work.?
Generally speaking, the average person spends 8 hours of their day, five days a week, at work. Naturally, the work environment and communication taking place at work have a huge effect on an employee’s mental health, stress levels, engagement levels, and, the big picture here, employee turnover.?
With such insights affecting every single industry, we believe that employee wellness and wellbeing need to be a top priority for us at intella.
We believe in the importance of having happy, satisfied employees, which is why, to kick off 2024, we’re sharing with you how we prioritized employees in 2023, and what we plan to focus on in 2024.?
Employee engagement?
We wanted to make sure that people feel engaged with one another and familiar with one another rather than barely knowing each other’s names as coworkers.?
From day one, we make sure employees get to know their new coworkers and have conversations (whether they’re deep or just super fun ones!)
During all types of holidays, Ramadan, Eid, and Christmas, we host parties where we can make sure we all celebrate and show gratitude together.?
We frequently plan team-building events for our team where one day during the work week (we’re definitely not taking their weekends, we’re not monsters) where we can all completely disconnect and get to know each other outside of work. We play games, do activities, share meals, and just spend quality time together.?
We know everyone wants to feel special on their birthday, which is why we make sure every employee has a birthday party celebrating with their teammates and sharing the love.?
Health and physical well-being?
When it comes to physical well-being, we constantly challenge our team to get active! In 2023, we held a steps competition challenging employees to see who takes the most steps in one month, and our winner exceeded one million steps!?
We make sure we host regular well-being events such as Health and Wellbeing Week to encourage our team to eat healthier and get the necessary checkups to check on their health.
Intella’s kitchen is always equipped with fresh fruits for our team to make healthy choices when they snack.?

Communication?
We all know communication is key anywhere in the world, but communication at work specifically is very important and greatly affects how employees feel about the entire place.?
We support healthy, easy communication at the company where every employee can feel safe and comfortable to talk to anyone, any time, about anything. We encourage healthy feedback, and active listening, and refrain from unsupportive criticism.?
We have strict communication policies that make sure employees always listen to, support, and respect one another, because how else does communication thrive??
Management style?
At intella, we follow a flat and flexible management style with an open-door policy. Meaning, while we have managers, we still believe we are all humanly equal.?
So when you want to talk to someone from management or C-level, you don’t need to go through three challenges and five dragons to get in touch: you can just knock on their door and have a conversation.?
Speaking of which, we just want to know, who made micromanagement a thing? We’re definitely not into that.?
We believe employees work best when they feel free. We trust every employee without having to stand over their heads to make sure they get the job done, and, guess what? They do.?
We hold quarterly, detailed meetings with each employee to discuss performance but also get insights from them on what they believe we could do better at. If we don't learn from our employees, who else can we learn from?
Overall, we’re an easy-going company that strongly believes in flexibility being key to happy employees. We know that you don’t need to chase employees down, rope them down to the desk, or lock them at the office overnight to get the job done.
We care that our employees don’t revolve their lives around their job. We want you to have hobbies, go out, enjoy life, and we strongly believe in having a healthy work-life balance.
We believe that with flexibility and genuine trust, employees can happily do so much more.
What are we focusing on in 2024??
In 2024, most of our plans focus on mental health and enhancing mental health awareness across the company. We plan on arranging several activities through which we can truly focus on having not just engaged but also happy, mentally well employees.
We want to do better and offer even more to our employees.
Employee wellness is becoming more and more important by the day, and we hope that through this article we inspired you to take a step back and think how you can make your employees’ lives better.
