?? How We Ensure Safety on Board: Dealing with Unruly Passengers
GetJet Airlines
GetJet Airlines - EASA-approved, IOSA-registered airline, providing ACMI and Charter flights worldwide.
The rise in unruly passenger incidents poses new challenges to flight safety. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) reports a 47 percent surge in cases of unruly behavior over the past year. Most of these incidents were related to passengers not following the instructions of the flight attendants, such as smoking, not wearing a seat belt, and consuming alcohol brought on board.
At GetJet Airlines, passenger safety and comfort are our top priorities. We want to share with you how our cabin crew handle unruly passengers to maintain a peaceful and secure flying experience for everyone on board.
Level 1: Respecting Boundaries
Sometimes, passengers may show behaviors that cause discomfort. Our cabin crew is trained to handle situations like these with professionalism and care. If a passenger doesn't follow instructions, behaves suspiciously, or uses threatening language, our crew takes these steps:
? Verbal warning about potential legal consequences.
? Conflict resolution skills to address the issue calmly.
? Isolating the flight deck and closely monitoring the situation.
? Informing the flight crew and senior cabin crew members.
? If necessary, reseating the passenger and ceasing alcohol service.
? Ensuring safety and comfort for all passengers.
Level 2: Responding Firmly
Should a situation escalate, and the passenger uses physical force against others, himself, equipment, etc., our cabin crew is equipped to take more decisive actions:
? Issuing a "NOTICE TO PASSENGER" detailing the behavior.
? Halting alcohol service to the unruly passenger.
? Isolating the flight deck and coordinating with the commander.
? Seeking assistance from fellow crew members and passengers.

Level 3: Ensuring Safety
In cases where a passenger poses a threat to life, our cabin crew remains vigilant:
? Immediate reporting to senior cabin crew and commander.
? Restricting movement around the flight deck.
? Employing restraint methods (belt, duct tape, shoelace, etc.) if necessary, with passenger and crew safety in mind.
? Coordinating with local authorities upon arrival.
? Prioritizing safety and assistance for all passengers.
Level 4: Protecting the Flight Deck
If the passenger attempts to force his way into the cockpit and sabotage the aircraft, the cabin crew takes the following actions:
? Taking all the necessary measures to secure the flight deck.
? Engaging all available resources, including passenger assistance.
? Coordinating with local authorities for a secure landing.
Remember, our highly trained cabin crew and flight crew are dedicated to ensuring a safe and enjoyable journey for our clients. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we prioritize safety above all else. Thank you for choosing us, as the well-being of the passengers is our utmost concern.
